When Jerry Jones was negotiating Micah Parsons‘ next deal, he wanted to make him the highest-paid non-QB in the league. That stance, however, fell through quickly, and it led to a bitter divorce.
It became apparent that the billionaire did not appreciate the tone or message both the star pass rusher and his agent were sending. Then, when Parsons wiped all links to the Cowboys from his social media, it became evident that talks had soured.
Soon, he packed his bags and moved to Wisconsin. Now, wearing the green and yellow of the Green Bay Packers, he was awarded a yearly average salary more than what Patrick Mahomes makes.
Parsons kept talking about the conversations surrounding the Cowboys, citing that their decision not to give him a tribute video when he returns to AT&T Stadium was the least disrespectful move from them.
This suggests he did not appreciate what Jones did to him, as he could not stay with the team for the rest of his career, as he would have liked. But for the owner, his barbs have not stopped.
Micah is special, and we all know he is, and he can be disruptive. But we have huge amounts of experience with the anecdotes that we’ve seen used on us for the last four years. While he does make great plays, there is also a way to approach playing against Micah, as we know, because we didn’t exactly win the Super Bowl during those years.

This was a direct insinuation that Jerry Jones‘ Dallas Cowboys were not close to winning despite having the 4-time Pro Bowler as their leading defensive star.
Jerry Jones details how Micah Parsons was not helpful in run defense
The 82-year-old traded away Micah Parsons for Kenny Clark and two 1st-round draft picks. While detailing why he felt it was a good move, Jerry Jones outlined the team’s past deficiencies.

When I look at playing him, I think of trying to have him as an advantage when we were playing other teams over the last four years. And some plays, it looks beautiful, but on other plays, especially running plays, you can wish you would’ve had a different formation.
Jerry Jones said
The owner-cum-GM believes his (former) generational talent as a pass rusher placed a liability on the team while defending the run. Now, with Clark anchoring the middle, he believes his team is better placed.
Jones added that since it would be ‘ridiculous’ to take out Micah Parsons on certain snaps, the Cowboys did not have the versatility to address their terrible run defense, and that is what made this trade sensible.
Jerry Jones clarifies trade was nothing personal against Micah Parsons
Since Micah Parsons landed in Green Bay, he has been giving out signals to suggest that Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys did him dirty. However, the owner does not believe it was anything personal.
If he thinks there was, to him, I didn’t get that feeling in any way during any of this deliberation. And it went on for quite a while, as we all know… that just is not the case, that it was meant to be in terms of the sensitivity of it. I understood that from the very beginning, this was significant to all parties’ concerns, significant to Micah, those feelings are always highly sensitive in that setup.

The owner reiterated that their discussions with his former player did not seem as if it was personal. Therefore, it could be that he believes just the trade made Parsons believe he was intentionally pushed out.
