The Dallas Cowboys are off to a rocky start to the season, with 2 losses and a tie in four games. While their offense is ranked first in the league, the defense is a whole different chapter. They rank among the worst units in the NFL through the first four weeks of the season.
While many fans anticipated some growing pains after trading star linebacker Micah Parsons, few expected the defense to struggle this profoundly. The Cowboys have shown minimal ability to generate a pass rush or effectively cover opposing receivers. Meanwhile, Parsons is as impactful as always.
During his weekly Tuesday appearance on 105.3 The Fan, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones addressed the team’s defensive situation and the potential for roster changes.
That’s a logical way to go. I also get to have the benefit of looking at who’s coming. We’ve got (DeMarvion) Overshown coming. Frankly, (Donovan Ezeiruaku) is playing lights out and getting better by the game. And (Jadeveon) Clowney has certainly had his opening game. So I see help on the way for this defense.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones on @1053thefan when asked about making moves to improve the defense: "That's a logical way to go. But I also get to have the benefit of looking at who's coming. We've got (DeMarvion) Overshown coming. … Frankly, (Donovan Ezeiruaku) is playing lights…

However, despite the intense and widespread speculation, the Dallas Cowboys are not planning to add any players to the roster. In the podcast, Jones shut down any possibilities of making major additions on defense before the trade deadline. He admitted that the organization has invested in several players whom they trust.
However, the problems extend far beyond the pass rush. Dallas’ secondary has been a glaring liability, allowing opponents to average 297.3 passing yards per game, the worst in the league. While a stronger pass rush can alleviate some pressure, it won’t solve the team’s coverage deficiencies.
The Cowboys are ranked 32nd in opponent yards per pass attempt, and the safeties have repeatedly been beaten on deep balls. Opposing teams are well aware of these weaknesses and have been exploiting them.
Jerry Jones also opened up on the comments made by Micah Parsons after the game
After the Dallas Cowboys versus the Green Bay Packers game, Micah Parsons confessed that he had no emotions associated with the Cowboys, which reportedly vanished when they traded him. Parsons also added that the trade was more about respect than emotion.

Parsons also revealed that he was informed of the trade by his agent, and Jerry Jones didn’t offer him the courtesy of an in-person meeting to let him know the news. Speaking on 105.3 The Fan, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones opened up about the admissions made by Parsons, revealing a surprisingly tense exchange.
I really don’t want to respond to that at all. But that phone call thing got stopped when he told me to take his number off my dial. It was Don’t call him anymore. So, I quit those calls.
Jones’s remarks quickly circulated on social media, prompting reactions from fans and analysts alike. The Cowboys return to action next week against the New York Jets, who are yet to win a single game this season.
The Jets, though winless, have accumulated more points than several teams that have a winning record. On the other hand, the Packers head into a bye week before they meet the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 6.
