Hulk Hogan is one of the most controversial figures in professional wrestling history. He is one of the most famous professional wrestlers of all time. However, his legacy has not been made without making some enemies along the way. One of the most infamous among them is Jesse Ventura.
Speaking with Chris Van Vliet, Ventura was asked if he was willing to bury the hatchet with Hulk Hogan. He had already cleared things up with WWE and was on good terms with them since Vince McMahon had exited the company. He is even in talks with the company for a Legends contract. However, he was unsure if we would ever make things right with the 71-year-old as he felt betrayed by him.
Ventura compared the former WWE Champion to Donald Trump, calling both of them narcissistic. He further brought up the incident at the Republican National Convention, where the Hulkster ripped apart his shirt, cut an impassionate promo, and advocated for the former President of the United States. The Hall of Famer claimed that the Republican Party would’ve been better off if they had Doink The Clown by their side instead.
When you have a guy who’s as narcissistic as Donald Trump, it ain’t gonna happen until I hear an apology from him. Yeah, he’s the narcissist, like Hogan. You know, birds of a feather flock together. I heard he was at the Republican Convention. I already heard about that, Hogan was there. Somebody wrote here, they’d have done better with Doink the Clown

Ventura narrated a story of him trying to form a union ahead of WrestleMania 2. However, Hogan informed McMahon about the situation, and the plan was immediately shut down. Therefore, the two would never get on good terms until the Hulkster apologized to him.
The controversial figure is not one to apologize, however. Even while under fire for his racist comments towards Kamala Harris, he tried to justify his remarks rather than apologizing for them.
Bruce Prichard Vince McMahon’s reaction to Hulk Hogan jumping ship to WCW
The 1990s was an intense time for the WWE. They were facing the biggest threat they ever had in WCW and were even trailing in ratings at one point. The main factor for the success of WCW was the infamous Hulk Hogan heel turn and him joining the nWo.
Speaking on ‘Something to Wrestle With,’ Bruce Prichard revealed Vince McMahon and the company’s reaction when the 8x WrestleMania main-eventer joined WCW. They felt that if anybody could turn the tide for them, it was the Hulkster. However, he believed that the merchandise and gates that he sold for them, in the long run, were lackluster at best.
We were definitely aware of Hulk being in WCW because at the time, we didn’t know if he was going to come back for us or go to them. He obviously went to them. And we were definitely aware of it, and felt that if there was anybody that could help turn the tide for WCW, it was Hulk.

However, Bruce Prichard revealed that it was a highly motivating factor for McMahon. The former chairman of WWE felt betrayed and took it personally. Both of them had been highly dependent on each other over the past few years, and it became a matter of pride for the 79-year-old.
