Iga Swiatek has evidently dominated the WTA tour for most of the year. After a disappointing Australian Open run, the Pole brought out her best form in the next tournaments. She ended the hard court season on a high and continued the same on clay as well.

Other than the semi-final loss at Stuttgart, the 22-year-old did not lose any other tournament and cemented her place in the WTA Finals this year as well. While Iga Swiatek’s recent form has shocked many people, her dominance does not surprise former American No.1 Jessica Pegula.

Iga dominated the clay season, what else is new? Now we go into grass and I'm sure the grass-court players will do well. I feel like I'm walking back into the same kind of thing. That's good.

After facing an injury early on in the year, the American was out for a whole quarter but made her return on grass and is targeting Wimbledon for her maiden title.

Jessica Pegula returns to court after missing the whole clay season

WTA No.5 Jessica Pegula had slowly improved her form on the hard court and even saw her country qualify for the Billie Jean Cup before suffering a rib injury that saw her out of the Clay season. Having missed an entire month of tennis, the American returned on grass to feature in the Hertogenbosch Open.

She got off to a great start at the grass tournament and beat Aliaksandra Sasnovich in straight sets 6-2,6-2. With that, she announced herself back on tour and revealed that she chose to opt out of clay to get a better recovery and be better prepared for the grass season, the Olympics, and the rest of the season.

Pegula has always done well on grass and even went to the quarter-finals last year before falling to Marketa Vondrousova, who eventually went on to win her first Grand Slam. With her favorite hard courts coming up after the Olympics, the American hopes to recover as soon as possible.
