- Aaron Glenn was caught sleeping during the NFL Combine while evaluating draft prospects.
- Fans criticized Glenn's lack of focus, linking it to the Jets' poor performance last season.
- Despite criticism, Jets players rated Glenn highly, giving him an A in a recent survey.
With the NFL Combine fully underway, New York Jets head coach Aaron Glenn and GM Darren Mougey would be out with their eyes wide open, looking for prospects who can fuel the team to success.
After executing a flurry of trades, the franchise has a plethora of draft picks, with which they should be looking at players who can be the future of the long-beleaguered franchise.
In their first season at the helm, the two would not have anything to talk about, particularly when the team notably regressed. Glenn and Mougey have a lot riding on this draft class, as they have to prove that they can at least do better with new players.
After listening to players’ interviews, the two were at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis to watch the prospects go through their paces in various drills.
When defensive lineman David Bailey was going through his 40-yard dash, NFL Network cameras panned to Aaron Glenn. Rich Eisen, who was commentating at the time, said that the Jets HC was ‘looking on’ as the Texas Tech prospect went through his paces.

The reality is that Eisen, who is one of the most experienced voices in the league, was careful not to mention what the 53-year-old head coach was actually doing.
Fans lose it watching Aaron Glenn catch a break
What actually happened is that Aaron Glenn dozed off while David Bailey was going through his 40-yard dash. Fans picked up on it and could not hold themselves back.
They felt that the head coach sleeping while evaluating draft prospects sums up what has been wrong with the New York Jets. They felt that other than the ownership’s clear lack of accountability, Glenn catching a break indicates how unserious they have been.
They felt that with his future at stake, the last thing Glenn needed was to get some shut-eye at a time when they should be analyzing prospects. Check out examples of those reactions below:
His defense was asleep all last season.

He also slept during every Jets game this year

Some fans did spring to Aaron Glenn’s defense, suggesting that it is perfectly normal for people to doze off. Then, it could also be that the said college prospect, or lineup of players at the time in the 40-yard dash, was not someone they were interested in.
Aaron Glenn earns an A in players’ survey
A couple of weeks ago, the NFL managed to get an arbitrator to stop the NFLPA from publishing the players’ report card, where they rank owners, coaching staff, and facilities.

Unsurprisingly, New York Jets owner Woody Johnson was one of the major opponents of this survey being made public. Thankfully, his players gave him a B, which is far better than the worst owners in the league.
At the same time, they gave Aaron Glenn an A. That should be all that matters to the former safety, who has come under fire from fans and the media for being unable to at least help the Jets’ defense play well in his first year there.
This ranking also comes as a surprise, considering that the Texas native did go after his players whenever he felt they needed an earful. But this shows that the players understood where he was coming from, and that reflects in how they think of him.
