The Winnipeg Jets stunned the St. Louis Blues on Sunday. The Presidents Trophy winners pulled off an incredible comeback in the dying stages of the game and eliminated their opponents through a double overtime winner from their captain, Adam Lowry, and advanced to the next round.
After going 2-0 down in the series, the Blues hit back and won Games 3 and 4. After losing Game 5, they tied the best-of-seven series with a 5-2 win in Game 6 and forced a Game 7 on Sunday.
The St. Louis-based team seemed to be on their way to the next round as goals from Jordan Kyrou, Mathieu Joseph, and Radek Faksa had them leading 3-1 going into the third period. With less than 2 minutes remaining in the game, Vladislav Namestnikov scored to make it 3-2 for the hosts at the Canada Life Centre.
As the time kept on winding down in Winnipeg, the Jets found a leveler through Cole Perfetti. The 23-year-old tapped the puck in from close range with just 1.6 seconds remaining in the game and enforced overtime.
After the overtime period failed to separate the two teams, a double overtime was required. In this period, some luck went in favor of the Jets. A long-range shot from Neal Poink took a deflection off captain Adam Lowry and found the back of the net, leading to the arena erupting with joy.

Never seen a collapse as bad as that. Blues had that game won for the first 58 minutes…. I kept screaming at my TV and for the life of me couldn’t figure out why we wouldn’t skate with the puck to chew the clock instead of dumping it for icing everytime in the last 2 minutes.

The double overtime winner of Lowry was his 3rd goal of the Stanley Cup playoffs this year. He is yet to register an assist, though. He and his team will now turn their attention towards the Dallas Stars, who, like them, pulled off an incredible comeback in Game 7 to stun the Colorado Avalanche.
