It’s merely a coincidence that Aaron Rodgers’ backup is named Jordan. Well, it’s not Love, but Jordan Travis. The Florida State perspective is looking forward to learning under the veteran and possibly taking over from him in the future.
Travis, who is still going through rehab, will have ample time to recover as the third-string quarterback. Yet he dreams of becoming a starter for the New York Jets someday.
I do think about that a lot (succeeding Rodgers). But right now I’m just focused on where my feet are.Jordan Travis said
He was part of the Jets minicamp, which concluded on Sunday and was seen pump-faking and spending time on the exercise bike. Travis revealed that he was thankful to have a home and the opportunity to play football, which looked slim after his season-ending ankle injury in 2023.
If the 24-year-old was fully healthy, the outcome of the CFP’s would have been different. The Seminoles were denied entry despite winning every game in the ACC, citing that they weren’t an exciting prospect without Jordan Travis. He dropped from being a Heisman candidate to a 5th-round pick.
Robert Saleh backs Jordan Travis to succeed with the Jets
Following the departure of former first-round pick Zach Wilson from BYU to Denver, the Jets required a replacement. Several teams passed on Travis, but general manager Joe Douglas saw the opportunity and took it as the 171st pick in the draft.

Head coach Robert Saleh deemed their new quarterback to be molded clay. He sees that Travis can become a great asset for them when the time is right.
We feel like he’s kind of a ball of clay. Footwork and throwing motion, and just being able to process and work in an NFL offense. There are so many things that we feel like we [can] build on his athleticism.Robert Saleh said, per the New York Post
Travis has the backing of former Noles and current Buffalo Bills wide receiver Keon Coleman. While , Coleman announced,
He [Jordan Travis] was the best quarterback in the country, despite who just been drafted. He really likes that; he still is like that.Keon Coleman said appearing on Robert Griffin III‘s ‘RG3 and the One’s’ podcast
The plan from Saleh for Travis is to learn from Aaron Rodgers and Tyrod Taylor. Then he can complete his comeback story when the time is right.
