Despite having established himself as a main event-caliber talent, Jey Uso is no stranger to facing criticism. He is often called out for his in-ring skills and how hollow his character has become ever since becoming a singles superstar. It appears that the 39-year-old does not mind this and recently had a response for the haters.
Speaking on the Raw Recap, the former Intercontinental Champion admitted that there were several wrestlers who were better than him from an in-ring perspective. They had a much wider moveset and could do impossible-looking athletic feats. However, they were not given the position at the top that Jey Uso was.
Uso said that the audience was watching him learn every day, and this was some of his best work. When he cut a promo, the fans would witness a genuine version of him. He did not have a scriptwriter to guide him in a particular direction. He would simply talk about whatever they wanted him to.
There’s a whole bunch of dope wrestlers better than me, but they ain’t at the top.

The Raw superstar said that apart from him, no one could control the crowd as well as he does when he is out in the ring. That’s who Jey Uso was now. He was at such a level where everyone would know he was making his entrance simply because of how loud the crowd reacted.
Will the addition of Jimmy Uso make Jey Uso vs. Gunther a better story?
The latest episode of Raw featured Jey Uso facing A-Town Down Under with a mystery partner. This mystery man turned out to be Jimmy Uso, and the twin brothers joined forces once again. However, the 2025 Royal Rumble winner was later ambushed by Gunther.

Uso was about to go for a spear, but he tripped. The Ring General used this opportunity to beat him down and escape. Later, Jimmy Uso lectured his brother about how he had tripped this week and had botched a dive from the top rope last week. This had turned him into a joke.
Many fans have complained that Jey Uso has now turned into a wrestler only famous for his catchphrase. His character lacks the emotional depth that it once had when he was a part of The Bloodline. Hopefully, the addition of Big Jim to this storyline will give it an angle that it so desperately needs and help fans get emotionally interested in the story of the 39-year-old.
Jey Uso says it would be the end for him if he fails to beat Gunther
WrestleMania 41 is, of course, not the first time that Jey Uso and Gunther will be going head-to-head. They had two TV matches on Raw for the Intercontinental Championship. Furthermore, they had a match in January at Saturday Night’s Main Event for the World Heavyweight Championship. However, all three of these matches ended with a victory for the Austrian.

Speaking on the Raw Recap, Uso said that he needed to beat Gunther at the biggest show of the year. Being unable to do so one more time would severely tank his confidence. Furthermore, he needed to win the belt to prove to the world that he could be a top-level singles champion in WWE.
All I know is, at WrestleMania, I have to beat Gunther because if I don’t beat Gunther, that’s it for Jey Uso. So, everything’s on the line right now.
Jey Uso on Raw Recap
Uso has had several opportunities for the World Heavyweight Championship on Raw and even a PLE over the past year. However, fans have repeatedly seen him come up short in such high-pressure situations. If he fails to become a world champion even after winning the Rumble, it is likely that fans may never see him as a credible contender to the title ever again.
