“Roger Federer’s wizardry with a racquet will be intact,” says former world no.1
Roger Federer
20-time grand slam champion and Swiss tennis marvel and arguably one of the greatest tennis player of all time, Roger Federer is set to hit the tennis court once again after a long gap. Federer underwent two surgeries on his right knee in 2020 which kept him away from the court for more than 12 months.
Roger Federer will rejoin the circuit at the ATP 250 tournament in Doha tomorrow against Dan Evans in the Round of 16 encounter after a 13-month absence.
The Swiss pulled out of the Australian Open earlier. Federer may not be able to compete for future Grand Slam titles if he has lost his “X-factor” movement, according to two-time Australian Open and two-time French Open-winner Jim Courier.
The big X-factor[Federer’s] is the movement: Jim Courier
Former world no.1 Jim Courier speaks lengths about Roger Federer. As of Federer, he had two knee surgeries, and the return couldn’t come as fast as Roger and his team had hoped.
“Federer’s wizardry with a racquet will be intact. He will not have lost his racquet skills, but the big X-factor is the movement.”, Courier said.
“It will be tough for him to win a Major again if he doesn’t move well. But we should be grateful for seeing him on the court again.”
Federer is scheduled to play Qatar Open and the Dubai Tennis Championship on his comeback run.
