The 2025 NASCAR Cup Series championship opener will feature seven times Bill France Cup winner Jimmie Johnson starting the 22nd Daytona 500 of his career. He is set to drive the No:84 Toyota Camry, for Legacy Motor Club that he co-owns with his longtime sponsor Carvana supporting in his chase of third “great American race” win.
Following the announcement of his 2025 race entry, Jimmie Johnson got himself in a hilarious social media beef with NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal. Both legendary athletes threw shades at each other, and it was hilarious for fans to sees it unfold.
It all started with Shaq asked Johnson was the 22nd Daytona 500 entry necessary. The Hall of Famer was quick to respond to the ex-LA Lakers star. He took a dig at the ex-NBA star about his poor free throw record and asserted that he still got the drive to thrive in NASCAR.
You know it, @SHAQ? I've still got the drive.

What about you, how's that jump shot these days? https://t.co/2mT6i8wxgx
Shaq took a shot back, inviting the racing legend to see if he still got on the court. Johnson responded to the invitation with a challenge, saying he is ready for a free throw competition, wherever the NBA legend want.
Haha, I love you’re coming at me @SHAQ! Let’s roll with a free throw comp.

Jimmie Johnson is thrilled for the 2025 season
The LMC No:84 team will field cars in two different events this year for Jimmie Johnson. He will race in the Coke 600 alongside the Daytona 500. These two races being really close to his heart owing to their significance makes it a special start for him.
The Hall of Fame is closing in on the very last races of professional career and he would be looking forward to making it count. It will be interesting to see if he can perform better with LMC than he did the last two seasons in the upcoming 2025 championship year.
