Since Butler asked the front office to trade him out of the Heat, he has faced severe disciplinary actions, enduring one suspension after another.

Butler was suspended for the third time in January—this time serving an indefinite suspension following his walkout from a team shoot around session. This is a telltale sign of the deteriorating relationship between Butler and Pat Riley. The strained dynamic prompted former NBA player DeMarcus Cousins to label the relationship as toxic during his interview with FanDuel’s Run It Back.
