Jimmy Butler credits Serena Williams’ $1 billion unicorn investments for inspiring post-retirement plans
Golden State Warriors superstar Jimmy Butler looks at tennis legend Serena Williams as inspiration in his investment journey.

Golden State Warriors star Jimmy Butler and Serena Williams
Jimmy Butler has played in the NBA for fourteen seasons. In that time, he has been a part of five teams. He developed a reputation of being one of the better playoff performers this league has seen as he hunts his first NBA title.
That hunt has him now playing for the Golden State Warriors. That team already has the reputation of being the defining team of the past decade. But he knows he has to bring his best if the aging Steph Curry and Draymond Green are going to help him reach his goal.
NBA success goals aside, he has seemingly won in life. The Texas native just signed a two-year contract after his trade to the Warriors was complete. If he completes the tenure of his new contract, the superstar will have amassed $423 million in career earnings.
But he has bigger plans than that. While speaking with Forbes, he did not explicitly mention that he wants to become a billionaire. But if his investments help him reach that goal, he will not mind it. He revealed who inspired him to become an investor.
Honestly, I love Serena Williams. What she has done for women’s sports, but now even in the business world is off the charts. I hope to be that after I retire. She is GOATed in every aspect of tennis, and now she is doing the same thing off the floor in all these business ventures.
Jimmy Butler said
He was referring to the investments Serena Williams makes. She has invested her personal money into 85 companies as per Investopedia. But more importantly, she has invested in fourteen unicorns, startups with a valuation of more than $1 billion. That is the goal Butler aspires to follow.
Jimmy Butler’s coffee venture
During the pandemic, Jimmy Butler chanced upon coffee. He was playing for the Miami Heat at the time and as he ventured out, he was introduced to coffee. The Black community usually do not drink coffee, but the drink gripped him.
It gripped him enough for him to think about starting a venture. He named it Big Face coffee and currently it has one store in Miami. Sadly, due to the trade, he cannot visit it as often as he would have wanted.
But he clarified that he wants to expand its reach. This means, he is looking for franchises. His goal is to not just cater to the United States. Rather, he wants it to go global. He wants to pair it with his love for soccer. Therefore, his dream is to have a coffee franchise near some of the biggest soccer clubs in the world.
Jimmy Butler hopes to finish his stellar NBA career with a championship
When Jimmy Butler wanted an extension with the Miami Heat, his desire was to be paid according to his abilities. But the team did not want to overpay for an oft injured aging superstar. That led to a trade which saw him land on the West Coast.
Ever since he has suited up for his new team, the Golden State Warriors have posted a 15-3 record. Quite impressive when one takes into account the struggles the team faced prior to his arrival. His presence has seemingly rejuvenated the squad, and Steph Curry is again playing with joy.
With every passing game, the team are proving to every doubter that they can compete. They are yet to face some of the toughest opponents in the league. But if this newfound form has shown anything, that is that the team have some versatility.
Now Butler hopes that the versatility helps him, and his new teammates reach their goal, that is to win an NBA title. It might be Curry and Green’s fourth, but for Butler, one title will be enough to justify the contract he has just signed.
