The heated rivalry between Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens has boiled over to a new level. The American Nightmare’s obsession with the Prizefighter causes him to drop everything he is doing and seek revenge. Unfortunately, Jimmy Uso had to bear the brunt of this on Friday night.
The latest episode of SmackDown featured a tag team match where Rhodes and Uso faced The Bloodline, comprising Tama Tonga and Jacob Fatu. The babyfaces seemed to be under pressure the whole match but started gaining some momentum a few minutes in. Then, Owens showed up out of nowhere and started brawling with the WWE Undisputed Champion.
The two superstars fought all the way up the ramp and went back into the arena. This left Uso vulnerable and outnumbered in the ring. He did his best to fight on his own and even went for a pinfall after a splash on Tonga. However, Fatu pulled Big Jim out of the ring and smashed his head on the announcers’ table.

Fatu threw his opponent back into the ring, hitting him with an impaler DDT, and picked up the pinfall victory after a springboard moonsault. Meanwhile, Owens and Cody Rhodes were seen fighting out into the technical area behind the barricade. They went through the road cases and smashed into a couple of tables as the show went off the air.
Wrestling veteran Bill Apter claims WWE made a mistake with Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens
Many fans loved seeing this incredible brawl between Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens on the latest episode of SmackDown. However, it appears that not everyone was a fan. Speaking on SmackTalk, wrestling veteran Bill Apter said that WWE made a mistake with this segment during the main event.
Apter said that Owens was disrupting everything that Rhodes was a part of. These acts were getting a little out of hand now. In fact, these two superstars had another brawl last Friday. Fans knew that any segment featuring the American Nightmare would eventually involve the former Universal Champion. The 79-year-old said that he did not want to see this interference during the match.
Unfortunately for Apter, things are unlikely to change over the next few weeks on SmackDown. Triple H clearly loves to book matches that feature a lot of interference. Thus, they will likely keep meddling in each others’ affairs until February 1st, when they finally get to settle their differences at the Royal Rumble in a ladder match.
