“JJ’s Staff is Stacked!” – JJ Redick adding G-League coach of the year to the Lakers LAUDED by NBA fans
The new JJ Redick-led Los Angeles Lakers are adding elite coaches into their coaching staff.
JJ Redick and Lindsey Harding
When the Los Angeles Lakers hired JJ Redick, he did not have any coaches to call as a staff. Since then, he and GM Rob Pelinka went about trying to hire a mix of experienced former head coaches and younger coaches wanting to grow. He got hold of two of the former and one of the latter. Now he has added another young coach to his staff, to which fans had a positive reaction.
The coach in question is last season’s G-League Coach of the Year, Lindsey Harding. A former WNBA player who transitioned to become a coach in the NBA. Then her career graph took her to the Sacramento Kings as an assistant, before they asked her to lead their G-League team. She took the team and led them to a league-best record which garnered her the Coach of the Year award. Now as per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, she joins Redick’s staff as an assistant.
JJ Redick was clear that he wanted coaches who would raise the appropriate questions. That said, this seems like a great hire as not many coaches are given the keys to a G-League affiliate if one is not good at their job.
Now Lindsey Harding joins former NBA head coaches Nate McMillan, and Scott Brooks as well as highly rated developmental coach Greg St. Jean on the Lakers bench. It is a brilliant step up for her. Not only will she get to learn from all her colleagues, but from a certain LeBron James as well.
JJ Redick building a stacked staff has fans applauding
Before the hiring, many questioned who would join a first-time head coach with no coaching experience. That notion was confirmed when a former assistant declined a chance to be hired. Now with 4 quality coaches at his disposal, JJ Redick might be building a dream staff. One that has a combination of experience, youth and diversity. More importantly, they are coaches who other teams would want.
That is what caught the enthusiasm of fans as they knew instantly that the Los Angeles Lakers were assembling the best possible squad. Check out below some of those comments:
LeBron James can now head into next season knowing that some of the best coaches are there to help his younger teammates. He will need those youngsters as the season progresses. Most notably the future of his son Bronny James is in good hands.
