Lakers HC JJ Redick gave an intriguing perspective regarding the 'drop' in NBA ratings towards the media recently.

The Los Angeles Lakers’ newly appointed head coach for this 2024-25 NBA season, JJ Redick, spoke about various topics in and around the NBA lately. Redick had a lot of experience with how the league functions. Recently, the Lakers HC was left disappointed with how the ‘NBA Ratings’ have taken a hit. This is a topic that remains a concerning issue for the league.
Before accepting this position last summer, Redick had a podcast with LeBron James. He listed several reasons he thinks have contributed to the ratings. This included the move away from traditional cable and toward streaming services. However, the former NBA player and ESPN expert believes that the main cause is the unfavorable talk about the game among “national partners.”
Notably, James talked about the status of the game on Thursday morning. He ironically expressed his own frustrations on the subject, telling reporters that “there are a lot of f—ing 3s being shot.” Not only Redick but many other NBA experts and analysts have also provided their take on the low NBA ratings occurring due to a lack of entertainment/competitiveness in the league.

As for Redick and his Lakers, they are now 15-12 in the NBA and sit in 7th place in the Western Conference standings. Their most recent win came against the Sacramento Kings. Their stars, LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Austin Reaves have stepped up with their performances. Also, they once again play the Kings at the Golden 1 Center on Saturday.
JJ Redick left ecstatic after Lakers’ recent win over Kings in the NBA
Throughout the NBA 2024–25 season, the Los Angeles Lakers have encountered numerous issues. The Lakers have played “terribly” after getting out to a strong start. Against the Miami Heat, they suffered their worst defeat of the season.
But after defeating the Sacramento Kings and Memphis Grizzlies back-to-back, they swiftly turned the tide. Not only that, JJ Redick labeled his most recent win against the Kings as his ‘favorite.’

Anthony Davis starred for the Lakers as he recorded 20 rebounds and 21 points along with 4 assists against the Kings at the Golden 1 Center. Redick was left amazed by his star defender’s performance and heaped huge praise on him after the game.
