JJ Redick addresses LeBron James' offensive struggles amidst 82-game plan for the season
JJ Redick and the Los Angeles Lakers might finally be coming to the realization that many had reached a long time ago. Playing a nearly 40-year-old basketball player all 82 games in a season might be more detrimental than beneficial.
After LeBron James’ struggles on the offensive end were on full display during the loss against the Minnesota Timberwolves, it might be time to change up their strategy. During the visit to the Target Center in Minnesota, the Lakers fell 80-109 in a blowout.
Following the game, JJ Redick addressed LeBron James’ struggles on the offensive end of the floor. he hinted at the wear and tear of an 82-game season catching up to the veteran star’s body.
JJ Redick on LeBron playing all 82 games: "I don't know if it's in the best interest of him and us if he does that."

Before the start of the season, James and the Lakers top brass had expressed their confidence in the 39-year-old star playing all 82 games in the NBA regular season. While many had expressed their concerns at the time, the Lakers continued with this strategy, with James playing all 21 games of the season so far.
However, the cumulative wear and tear of playing every single night in his 22nd year in the league seems to be rapidly catching up to James. He finished Monday night’s game with just 10 points on 4-16 shooting from the field. Following the loss, James’ season averages dropped even further, averaging 22.0 points, 9.1 assists, and 8.0 on just 48.2% shooting from the field and 34.5% from distance.
LeBron James addresses offensive struggles
The larger issue for JJ Redick’s squad has been their struggle to find any consistent offensive rhythm, with both LeBron James and Anthony Davis struggling to find their own offense of late. Following the loss, James addressed reporters about his struggles on the offensive end of the floor.

After their loss Monday, the Lakers fell to the 8th seed in the West with a 12-9 record so far. They barely inched past the Utah Jazz on Sunday, but their loss to the Timberwolves put all of the major issues in JJ Redick’s squad on full display.
The Lakers do not have a consistent on-ball creator apart from James, forcing the aging star to pick up the primary creation load in the team. As James has struggled with the ball over the last few games, averaging nearly 4 turnovers for the season and 52 turnovers in his last 10 games, his fellow star Anthony Davis’ numbers have also taken a hit.
After starting the season as a top MVP candidate, Davis, too, has seen a hit in his numbers. As the Lakers gear up to play the Miami Heat and Atlanta Hawks, JJ Redick will have to think on his feet to get the Lakers train up and rolling once again.
