JJ Redick kicks off first criticism of Lakers coaching job by dropping ‘F-bomb’
JJ Redick knows the critics will be out to get him if the Los Angeles Lakers do not win soon.

New Los Angeles Lakers head coach JJ Redick kicks off first criticism of head coaching job by dropping an F bomb in front of the media
Usually, when a top professional sporting franchise goes head coach hunting, they look for someone who possesses a decent track record in a similar role. But with JJ Redick‘s hiring, the Los Angeles Lakers have ignored that requirement.
This has been the most obvious talking point for several analysts and fans. However, it seems the man himself is not bothered by it. In the recent introductory press conference, Guardian reporter Claire de Lune asked the new Lakers head coach if he was looking to prove people wrong.

It’s a valid question and I’ve certainly heard everything. It’s been a really interesting, uh, six weeks or so...However, I don’t really have a great answer for your question because I really don’t give a f**k. Like honestly, I want to coach the Lakers. I don’t want to dispel anything, I don’t. I want to become a great coach in the NBA. And I want to win championships.JJ Redick said
It seems Redick is well aware of the narratives in the media. But his expletive-laden answer suggests he does not care about them.
JJ Redick knows that until and unless he starts winning, the narratives will only keep on growing. Not an easy task considering the previous head coach lost his job as he was unable to guide the Los Angeles Lakers to an NBA title.
In fact, he lost the locker room much before the season ended. Suggesting that respect is the first thing JJ Redick will have to earn from the players.
LeBron James’ cosign will help JJ Redick earn locker room respect
Once the hiring was announced a few days back, Austin Reaves was the first to talk about how thrilled he was for what would take place. Reaves might be happy, but JJ Redick will have to earn the respect of the other players. They might be wary about the lack of coaching experience. However, he will have the cosign of LeBron James.
The greatest mind in the game will be the flag bearer for his now-former podcast mate. That in itself will help Redick open up to the rest of the players and get them to buy into his vision. If he can help the players develop and go along with the vision, chances are that the Los Angeles Lakers will be successful.
Win an NBA title and probably the critics will ditch the narratives. JJ Redick can eventually help build a culture of winning, which can keep him there as the head coach for a long time. If his first press conference is anything to go by, the Los Angeles Lakers are onto something.
