JJ Redick and Lakers rested during All-Star weekend as Luka Doncic’s minutes restriction ends: “I didn’t watch any of that s**t”
Lakers HC JJ Redick did not mince his words regarding the NBA All Star event and also provided an important update on Luka Doncic.

Luka Doncic and JJ Redick
The NBA All-Star celebrations fell flat, becoming one of the most criticized highlight events in recent memory. Many fans either skipped the games entirely or voiced disapproval of the new format, which replaced the traditional All-Star Game. Notably, Lakers head coach JJ Redick was among the critics, also weighing in on Luka Doncic’s minutes.
Redick was asked to evaluate youngster Dalton Knecht‘s effort in the Rising Stars team at the All-Star event. This was by a reporter during his Tuesday interview from the Lakers’ El Segundo facility. Most NBA fans could connect with the Lakers coach’s incredible response.
I didn’t watch any of that s**t.

After the All-Star break, which gave stars LeBron James and Doncic much-needed rest, the Lakers will be at their peak. When LA resumes regular-season play, Redick assured the media that Doncic won’t be subject to any minutes restrictions.
He’ll be fine…His minutes will be up tomorrow. And I don’t think that there’s going to be any restriction going forward.

Doncic has been struggling with an injury to his calf, a muscle that has previously given him trouble on several occasions. The Dallas Mavericks used Doncic’s calf injury as part of their defense when they traded him to the Lakers in exchange for Anthony Davis, Max Christie, and an unprotected 2029 first-round selection.
However, Doncic’s inclusion in the Lakers roster boosted their attack immediately. Despite the Lakers not having a big man at the center, Doncic and James can handle their side’s attack against their rivals. Given that, all eyes will be on the Lakers’ new star duo against the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday.
Luka Doncic to step up for Lakers with LeBron James doubtful for Hornets clash
The Lakers’ first back-to-back games after LeBron James pulled out of the All-Star event starts Wednesday versus the Charlotte Hornets and the following day against the Portland Trail Blazers. Luka Doncic will be anticipated to spearhead the team’s offensive effort versus these two opponents if James is unable to participate.
In his two games with the Lakers, Doncic averaged 15.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 4.0 assists. The Lakers split the two games they played against the Utah Jazz. Throughout these games, Doncic’s shooting percentages have been dismal. He went 40.7% from the field and 26.7% from three. However, with his minutes restriction being removed by Lakers HC, JJ Redick, one can anticipate a much more all-round performance by Doncic.

The Lakers are struggling to break into the top four of the Western Conference. This is with a 32–20 record thus far this season. Doncic must be the one to lead this team to greater heights.
