The Miami Heat crushed the Los Angeles Lakers 134-93 on Wednesday night. LA currently has a 12-10 record and has lost three of their last four games. They have been performing extremely poorly despite having the likes of LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Austin Reaves in the squad.
Many NBA experts and ex-players criticized James and Lakers head coach JJ Redick. Notably, former NBA champion Kendrick Perkins was one of them.
Perkins had questions for Redick, who is in his maiden season as an NBA head coach. He likened Redick’s struggles with Steve Nash and the Brooklyn Nets.

Is Redick to blame for the Lakers’ recent troubles? One could argue that, but at this early stage of the season, it’s hard to hold him solely responsible.
At 12-10, there is yet hope. Some would even contend that Redick has surpassed expectations thus far. On the other hand, James hasn’t played as well as he did in his heyday, but he is still one of the league’s best players.
But this season has been different. James recently endured a huge slump of form, going 6 matches without scoring outside the paint. If the Lakers were to achieve success, James has to be at his best this season.
JJ Redick is not a ‘huge fan’ of his defense
JJ Redick criticized the Los Angeles Lakers’ defensive shortcomings following the team’s defeat to the Phoenix Suns. In back-to-back games against the Suns and the Denver Nuggets, the team let up 127 points. Redick discussed the team’s roster problems which led to their defensive difficulties.
JJ Redick: "Some if it is personnel-based. We don't have a lot of guys that can pick up full court."

The squad boasted a strong defense at the beginning of the season, led by MVP contender Anthony Davis. The Lakers have lately had trouble playing defense.
In the NBA this season, they have a defensive rating of 115.7, which is close to the bottom of the league. The Lakers must find a way to solve their problems, and they must do so quickly.
