JJ Redick swiftly shuts down Adam Silver’s proposal to make wild change to NBA: “Not a fan”

Adam Silver and JJ Redick

The NBA is one of the most widely watched sports in the world, with fans all over the world tuning in to watch their favorite players and franchises. Commissioner Adam Silver recently proposed the notion of reducing games by using 10-minute quarters instead of 12-minute ones, to make the NBA more international. However, this did not go down well with Los Angeles Lakers head coach, JJ Redick.

Redick responded to the proposal with a firm and direct statement, stating that it was “not a good idea.” He felt the NBA should not follow other leagues’ lead. The NBA has suffered a sharp reduction in viewership this season, and Silver’s plan is part of a larger effort to solve the issue. Also, Redick opposed any of this in his recent interview.

Not a fan. That’s not a good idea. We are the premier league, in the NBA. Why are we conforming to anyone else? It’s not a good idea.

Some coaches and fans feel that the NBA’s distinctive 48-minute structure is an essential component of its identity and tradition. JJ Redick’s position represents this view. Coach Michael Malone of the Denver Nuggets reiterated this attitude. He hopes that the NBA won’t implement 10-minute quarters or other alterations that could jeopardize the purity of the game.

It is unclear at this point in the debate whether the NBA will adopt Adam Silver’s proposal or stick with its existing setup. In addition, Redick’s adamant opposition in the interim highlights how crucial it is to maintain the distinctive features of the game that have won over fans worldwide. Nevertheless, the NBA need to fix some things, including viewership problem and All-Star game formats.

JJ Redick heaps high praise on LeBron James

Despite losing Anthony Davis to a week-long injury, the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Washington Wizards, the weakest team in the NBA, and it made no difference. In particular, Lakers head coach JJ Redick handed LeBron James his flowers for ‘setting the tone’ for the team tonight after the Lakers won 134-96.

He was awesome. He was aggressive, he talked. Just his willingness to trust his teammates and create for others and himself was amazing. Don’t overlook the fact that he’s 40 years old in year 22 with every accolade under the sun, and he comes out on a Thursday night that’s a non-nationally televised game against a team that’s really struggling and he’s the tone-setter. That competitive stamina is impressive.

JJ Redick told the reporters

James is under pressure to be the team’s legitimate leader while Davis is away. He will probably do so for the next week until Davis returns. In less than 27 minutes of play, James scored 24 points (9-19 FG) and dished out 11 assists in this victory.

By the third quarter, it was a complete blowout, allowing James and every other rotational player to take a break before a challenging workload without their best player. Up next for the Lakers are the New York Knicks in what promises to be a thrilling game.
