JJ Redick’s friendship with LeBron James doesn’t mean positive Lakers result claims Lou Williams

LeBron James and JJ Redick

JJ Redick has been touted as a potential candidate for the Los Angeles Lakers’ vacant coaching position by many. However, on the contrary, via the show “Run It Back,” Lou Williams shared his thoughts about why Redick isn’t the best choice to lead the Purple and Gold.

Furthermore, Lou Williams believes that JJ Redick cannot command a dressing room as egoistic as the Lakers, even though he is tight with LeBron James, a quality that is important to be a successful coach. Although he has experience as a TV analyst, it’s a whole different ball game when it comes to coaching and handling the pressure of a large arena.

There's no chance that JJ Redick is going to be able to command that locker room. He and LeBron can sit there and drink wine together and break down plays, but it's a little different when you got 20,000 people screaming at you.

It is important to note that Redick’s career and a sharp mind for details might make him a great fit as a coach. However, according to Williams, not just for the Lakers, the team needs a coach who can motivate the players and handle the pressure of leading a team with so many expectations. And he thinks that man is current LA Clippers coach Ty Lue.

However, there’s no guarantee he would get the job, as many other more experienced candidates are also being considered. One thing is certain, the Purple and Gold need a coach with the right fit and pedigree to help them return to championship contention after the sad sack of former coach Darvin Ham.

How JJ Redick can thrive with the Lakers

The Lakers parted ways with Darvin Ham, leading to rumors of JJ Redick, who lacks coaching experience, taking over. While his lack of experience could pose challenges, if the Purple and Gold opt for him, they’ll likely need to build a seasoned support team around him.

With a 15-year NBA career under his belt, Redick likely has some insight into coaching intricacies. Additionally, LeBron James’ high level of trust in him could benefit the team, unlike past experiences.

Furthermore, to make his potential and dreamy job a successful one, the Lakers would need to assemble the best coaching staff. Also, the roster needs to be upgraded with the target focus on strength, size, athleticism, shooting and defensive skills.
