Spurs stars help JJ Redick's kids restart NBA memorabilia collection
The LA Wildfires have affected hundreds of thousands of people as they were forced to evacuate. In that process, many lost their homes as well as other belongings. Los Angeles Lakers head coach JJ Redick was one of them who lost a lot due to the Pacific Palisades fire.
The first-year head coach detailed that the house they lived in the Pacific Palisades was gone as the fires turned the area into ashes. His family was safely evacuated prior to the fires spreading to their house, but they lost a lot by the time the fires extinguished.
Redick was visibly emotional during a Lakers practice session earlier this week. He revealed that the memories he and his wife Chelsea built up over the years have turned into ash. He mentioned losing items of sentimental value which they will never get back.
The NBA postponed two Lakers homes games. One on the 9th against the Hornets and the second against the San Antonio Spurs. But the Spurs remained in town as they were to face the Lakers earlier today.
After the game, Spurs stars Victor Wembanyama and Chris Paul got hold of JJ Redick and asked him about his family. With both sons Knox and Kai sitting courtside, the two walked towards them alongside Redick. They then handed their game-worn jerseys to them, replete with their autographs.

The beaming smiles on the faces of Knox and Kai Redick showed what that gesture meant to them. They were going to start a fresh collection of basketball memorabilia with those signed jerseys. That too coming from one of most exciting prospects in basketball along with their father’s former teammate.
JJ Redick and Lakers dedicated game to Los Angeles community
The NBA did not postpone this 2nd game against the San Antonio Spurs, but the Los Angeles Lakers were not in their most competitive spirit. The LA Wildfires have left the city grappling and it showed. Prior to the game, JJ Redick said this to gathering reporters.
ESPN’s Dave McMenamin quoted the 40-year-old HC suggesting that the Lakers dedicated the game to their community. They have seen how first responders are fighting to ensure the LA Wildfires do not continue to wreak havoc on the city.
JJ Redick on the Lakers dedicating the game to the L.A. community: "Sports really work well when the team, the organization has a connection to the city and the fans feel a connection to the team. And then it just flows in some sort of eternal circle of that."

Redick lost a home, and another Lakers staffer lost his childhood home. As a community, they are trying to rebuild what they lost. Maybe that caused the Lakers to lose to the Spurs 126-102. Their minds are probably elsewhere at the moment.
