Famed author JK Rowling went radio silent on social media after being hit with a lawsuit by Algerian boxer Imane Khelif. The lawsuit comes after the recent gender row controversy during the Paris Olympics. Not only that, according to reports, she has also deleted 27 tweets ever since.
JK Rowling is known for her controversial opinions on transgender and LGBTQ issues. Only this time, it backfired on the ‘Harry Potter’ author. According to Travis Akers (@travisakers) on X, Rowling has deleted 27 tweets about the boxer after the complaint filed by Imane Khelif. However, the writer still left plenty of tweets on her X, speaking up for her point of view.
During the Paris Olympics, Khelif was subjected to public scrutiny over alleged misinformation regarding her sex. The internet went into a frenzy after her opponent, Angela Carini, forfeited the bout within 46 seconds after taking a couple of punches.
After days of widespread misinformation and multiple statements, Khelif still remained on the public radar. However, after earning her gold at the Paris Olympics, the boxer announced that she was taking strict action against the online harassment she faced.
Nabil Boudi, the Paris-based attorney of Khelif, stated that JK Rowling and Elon Musk were specifically named in the cyberbullying complaint filed by the boxer. He further stated that since the complaint was filed against X, all who contributed to the hating spree will be investigated.
Rowling never acknowledged that the boxer was a woman despite the IOC dispelling the rumors. Part of her reasoning came from the IBA (International Boxing Association), which stated that Khelif had failed gender tests and had XY Chromosomes instead of XX Chromosomes.
JK Rowling took a shot at Lucy Clark before Imane Khelif
JK Rowing has a history of challenging the LGBTQ ideology. More often than not, she goes on arguing against people from LGBTQ+ communities on X. She made the headlines in May after openly mocking the first openly trans football manager, Lucy Clark.

On X, @prideukorg tweeted to celebrate the achievement. Rowling chimed in, mentioning how football managers were “straight, white, middle-aged blokes” when she was young. She further remarked how things had changed. Later, Daily Mail Online posted a story accusing Rowling of mockery by posing contrast. She had another response ready to aim at the publication.
The tweet invited several supporters and protestors, following up with a huge internet storm. Rowling justified her statements while the organization deleted the official tweet to reduce hate. On the other hand, Clark spoke up on the matter, directly addressing Rowling. Further, she reassured the people of her thick skin against the bullying.
