Despite an amazing debut season with the Blaugrana, Polish striker Robert Lewandowski has come under significant criticism this season for his performances. The 35-year-old failed to replicate his goal scoring prowess for a second season running as FC Barcelona failed to defend their La Liga title against Real Madrid.

The Barcelona No.9 however, was their top scorer for a second consecutive season. Club President Joan Laporta was in high spirits as he spoke of the striker, and proudly exclaimed that Lewandowski turned down offers from other clubs.

Recently, the forward shut down rumors surrounding a potential move to Turkish club Fenerbahce. Several news outlets claimed that Jose Mourinho wanted the 35-year-old as his marquee signing for his new club.

Aged 35, the forward still has two more years left on his Barcelona contract. Despite bringing in youngster Vitor Roque, the club have chosen to stick with the veteran.

What next for Vitor Roque? Joan Laporta opens up on the young striker’s situation

Barcelona forward Vitor Roque plays for the club of his dreams but finds himself in a difficult spot. The 19-year-old landed in Barcelona at the start of 2024 from Athletico Paranaense. Despite his exciting arrival and much anticipated debut, the player has had a ‘secondary’ role at the club.

In his six months at the club, the forward has only managed to make 14 appearances, that too, mostly off the bench. Speaking on the forwards situation, Joan Laporta said that he was slowly easing himself into the club. Supporters however, aren’t of the same opinion and claim that Roque should find a club elsewhere.

Vitor Roque has been picking up pace and adapting to the environment. There are some players that have asked to leave but I'll leave that to Flick and Deco.
Joan Laporta told Barca ONE

The striker’s situation at Barcelona is set to gain significance, as it remains to be seen whether new manager Hansi Flick will prefer his former protege Robert Lewandowski or give the rookie a chance.
