Myles Garrett has set his sights on Joe Burrow to complete his sack record. Unlike Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers, Burrow is willing to sacrifice himself if it means securing a victory for the Cincinnati Bengals.
The Bengals notched back-to-back wins for the second time this year, delivering dominant performances against both the Miami Dolphins and the Arizona Cardinals. Burrow completed 75%+ passes for 614 passing yards, 6 touchdowns, and zero interceptions. Although the Bengals have nothing else to play for besides their pride as a football team, ending the year on a high note will boost the morale of the players.
Meanwhile, the 4-12 Browns pulled off an impressive win against the 9-7 Steelers last week. Garrett was a constant menace for the Steelers’ offensive line to deal with, and his presence helped Grant Delpit and Alex Wright record a couple of sacks on Rodgers.
The Steelers seemed determined to stop Garrett from getting the one elusive sack to break the sack record, jointly held by Michael Strahan and TJ Watt. Garrett has 22 sacks and 42 total tackles after sixteen games.
Joe Burrow gives his honest opinion on Myles Garrett possibly getting his sack record
Both Burrow and Garrett are ferocious competitors. Neither will give one another an inch of land on Sunday. The game may not matter in the grand scheme of football, but a lot is riding on an individual level.

Burrow has thrown for 1600+ yards and 15 touchdowns against the Browns in his career. He only put up 113 yards and failed to throw a touchdown pass. On top of that, his 4-5 record against divisional rivals leaves something to prove. Garrett will create a lot of pressure on him throughout the game, but he won’t back down from taking a hit if deemed necessary.
I’m certainly not gonna overcompensate either way. I’m not gonna go out of my way to not let him [Myles Garrett] get the record and I’m not gonna go out of my way to let him get the record either. I’m gonna go play football.

“I’m not gonna go out of my way to not let him get the record… I’m gonna go play football. There are going to be situations where a sack is the best of the bad outcomes of that play.”

Garrett sacked Burrow twice in the earlier fixture, taking his overall tally to 11.5 sacks in nine games. The cat-and-mouse matchup should be an entertaining watch for the neutrals.
The 2023 Defensive Player of the Year nearly broke the record against the Steelers. He failed to accomplish his goal, but the Steelers also blew the chance to win the AFC North. After the game, Garrett took a dig at the Steelers.
They were more worried about keeping me away from Aaron than getting the win. And I think that’s what came back to bite them.

Quarterback Shedeur Sanders threw 17 completions for 186 yards, one touchdown, and 2 interceptions. The Bengals are cautious about the fifth-round rookies’ rise to prominence.
I thought he [Shedeur] made a lot of plays [against the Steelers]. I thought he could throw it. And then obviously, given who his dad [Deion Sanders] is, he knows how to handle the media, knows how to handle the spotlight. Certainly under the microscope more than any other fifth-round pick that’s ever been in the history of football.

Sanders has thrown for 1284 yards, 57.4% pass completion, 7 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. He will play the Bengals for the first time in his career.
