For most of his career, quarterback Joe Burrow’s career has been plagued with injuries which overshadowed the abundant potential he has. Just last season, his offseason began earlier than his peers after he sustained a grave wrist injury costing the Cincinnati Bengals’ playoff berth.
Even though two scant seasons don’t define Burrow’s capabilities, it appears he is being judged by that. In the NFL’s Top 100 players list released last month, the Bengals’ star quarterback was seen ranking quite below– at the 39th position, voted by his peers.
While addressing the ranking to the media at the training camp, the Pro Bowler quarterback admitted that it did disappoint him as he believed he deserved better than that, but he also understands why that happened. After last season, he has a lot to prove to the fans as well as his team and he is determined to do so.
I think I’m obviously better than that. But when you’re not playing … I didn’t have exactly a season that would have put me any higher than that. When you’re hurt, you really can’t complain much about any accolades or anything, until you go out and prove yourself again.Joe Burrow said
Burrow is looking forward to the coming 2024 season with great expectations and a drive to prove himself again. Coming off a major injury, the quarterback isn’t much affected by it and most of all, hasn’t lost his passion to thrive.
Joe Burrow seeks to reignite his career after injury setbacks
The Bengals’ quarterback has fallen from a great height on the Top 100 list of 2024 as he was placed at the 6th position in the 2023 rankings. But then, Burrow was coming off an impressive season with 4,475 yards, 35 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions.
From his alma mater, five players made the list however the quarterback was ranked the lowest. But the quarterback knows that once he gets on the football field in his best shape, he knows people will remember why he won the Heisman Trophy at LSU and earned the record-breaking extension before any other quarterback.
While the signal-caller was noticeably missing from the news last season, he made quite the headlines in the offseason. He is aiming for a bounce back in 2024 and sooner or later, Burrow will earn the glory he previously had.
