Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow has displayed remarkable resilience in his attempts to return from a turf toe injury he suffered more than 2 months ago.

Since the usual recovery time from such an injury and subsequent surgery is 3 months, many felt his season was effectively over. But he was activated by his team a few weeks ago, enabling him to practice with his teammates.

With 6 games remaining, it seems the franchise still believes that it can stage a run of games that should enable it to capture a playoff spot. Since Burrow claimed that the only way to do that is to win their division, it seems he wants to do what he can to help them achieve that.

The 28-year-old superstar was still not activated from Injured Reserve, which led to some doubts over his availability for their upcoming Week 13 clash against the Baltimore Ravens.

Joe Burrow laid those doubts to rest by posting a story on his Instagram page where he is seen looking at his reflection in a mirror with the words “He’s Back” as a caption.

To commemorate the occasion, the former LSU star threw in some Easter Eggs, in the form of a Cleveland Cavaliers No. 23 jersey, which Burrow was wearing in the picture.

It seems he was trying to channel his inner LeBron James, specifically the one who came back from his 4-year stint with the Miami Heat, and led the Cavaliers, another Ohio-based sports franchise, to its first-ever NBA championship.

It could be that Burrow is taking his turf toe injury as his way of saying he is now coming back to lead the Cincinnati Bengals to win their first-ever Super Bowl trophy.

Bengals HC seemingly confirms Joe Burrow will play against Ravens

Even though Joe Burrow might want to play this week against the Baltimore Ravens, it is really not his decision. For instance, head coach Zac Taylor was not ready to commit to a decision.

I anticipate him playing, but we’ll continue to work through the week. I’m not going to declare that definitively.

Zac Taylor said to reporters

Taylor did not say no to his star quarterback starting, as he wants to see how the Iowa native progresses throughout the week. It seems they also have to keep Burrow’s long-term health in mind.

He was listed as a full participant last week, but the organization chose not to activate him onto their 53-man roster. Taylor is expecting to see his electric QB throw passes to his wide receivers, but wants to take the next few days to be completely sure of his decision.

Joe Burrow will not have one of his star wide receivers in his 1st game back

Had Joe Burrow played in their Week 12 clash against the New England Patriots, he would not have had superstar receiver and former LSU teammate Ja’Marr Chase at his disposal.

The latter was suspended after spitting at Jalen Ramsey during their Week 11 clash against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Now that he has served his 1-game suspension, Chase will be back to face the Ravens.

It was announced that his fellow wide receiver, Tee Higgins, will miss the game against the Ravens, as he suffered a concussion after taking a big hit during their Week 12 clash.

This means Burrow will be coming out of the tunnel before their Thanksgiving prime time game with just one half of his electric receiver unit. If the Bengals are to reach the playoffs, the QB will have to make do with what he has.
