Joe Burrow was present at New Orleans to take in the Super Bowl LIX festivities. He was primarily there to accept the Comeback Player of the Year award but would have preferred if he and his Cincinnati Bengals were playing in the actual game than just appearing in designer casuals.
He did his part in trying to pull his team to the playoffs. But their team’s struggles all season long were a bit too much to overcome. The Bengals struggled on defense and the problems with offensive line depth and the lack of a running game ultimately became their undoing.
The team lacked the ability to beat sound playoff contenders. If they are to return to the Super Bowl and try and win it, the usually stingy Cincinnati Bengals front office will have to make some moves. When First Take host Molly Qerim asked Stephen A. Smith if Joe Burrow could leave if the Bengals don’t make moves.
I think that he should, and I think that he will. The Joe Burrow that we met during the Super Bowl, he’s made it a point to be very conspicuous in his position. He’s letting them know, he’s not happy and he ain’t about to stand pat. He’s not about to be a QB for a franchise that ain’t trying to win.

The longtime analyst believes the vibes coming out of the 28-year-old QB has been that of a player who is hungry to win it all. If the Cincinnati Bengals continue to show their miserly side, they could risk losing a major shot at winning their first ever Super Bowl in the near future.

The cast of First Take were primarily talking about if the Cincinnati Bengals will be able to keep Tee Higgins. They also have to take care of Trey Hendrickson, which will push their salary cap through the roof. But even if the Bengals manage to keep them all, Stephen A. Smith believes something else needs attention.
Their problem in the Zac Taylor era, they start out 1-11. It’s automatic that they are gonna lose their first two games, they are going to be in a hole to start the season. I think there needs to be an investigation into what Zac Taylor and his staff is doing in the offseason. Why the hell are you never ready?

The analyst wants the franchise to first sit down and figure out why head coach Zac Taylor cannot get the team to start a season with wins. The 41-year-old has been the head coach of the Cincinnati Bengals for the past six seasons.
In that time, his record is 4-13-1 when looking at each of the first three games of every season. Smith believes that is opportunities wasted which can help a Super Bowl contending team down the line. He believes Zac Taylor needs to fix that if they are to try to win something.
