It has been over a year since Damar Hamlin collapsed in the middle of the field during the Week 17 matchup between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Buffalo Bills. It took a lot of effort from the members of the Bills’ medical team to revive him and get his heart to start beating again. It is an incident that fans will not forget for a long time.
For Joe Burrow, who was at the scene when the fateful incident happened, the experience was nothing short of terrifying. After Damar Hamlin went down, members of the Bills and the Bengals looked at him in shock and horror as he lay non-responsive. There were two pressing matters in the minds of players. The first was regarding the safety’s well-being and the second was whether the game would be played or not.

The NFL understood the gravity of the situation and decided to stop the game and schedule it for a later date. However, when the incident happened, players were doubtful that the league would take such a drastic step.
Hamlin was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance. The entire stadium remained silent as fans prayed that the safety would get back up and stand on his feet.
Fortunately, Hamlin has recovered and returned to play football this season. His recovery has proven to be inspiring for thousands of fans. He now takes every opportunity to motivate and show the world that despite his scary setback, he was able to defy the odds and return to doing what he loves, playing football.

He was invited to speak on Capitol Hill and met with President Joe Biden. Fans share the same sentiment as Burrow—they’re all just grateful that the safety is doing good and is happy.
