The Cincinnati Bengals are headed for the final game of the season, which holds great significance for them because of their hanging chance of qualifying for the playoffs. However, that’s not the first thing on the mind of quarterback Joe Burrow, as he can’t help but think about the despairing possibility that it could be his last game with wide receiver Tee Higgins.
Earlier in the offseason, when the speculations about Higgins’ future in the Bengals were swirling around the headlines, Burrow was insistent on keeping him in the team. The franchise appears to heed his concerns by offering the wideout a one-year contract. However, as that year draws to a close, Higgins finds himself back at square one regarding his situation.
Ahead of the Week 18 game, scheduled for the coming Saturday, the Bengals star quarterback opened up about not feeling too thrilled about the game because of the possibility that it may be his last game with Higgins.
It’s obviously a possibility. Not one I’m thrilled about. You don’t want to make a living out of letting great players leave your building.

As for now, the Bengals and Higgins haven’t reached a contract of mutual agreement, making him eligible to enter free agency next year. However, the Bengals are optimistic about finding common ground with the star receiver– counted among the top young receivers in the league, before he hit the market.
Tee Higgins reflects on his contract expectations from Bengals
Amid the Bengals struggling season, there have been very few positive aspects to highlight about the team– one of which is the 25-year-old wideout. After agreeing to the franchise tag, he posted 69 catches, 858 receiving yards, and a career-high count of 10 touchdowns. Additionally, his chemistry with Burrow is truly incomparable and all these illustrate the possibility that the team will re-sign him in a long-term deal.

I’m playing with if not the best, one of the best, QBs. I’m playing with if not the best, one of the best, WRs. That opens up things for me.

Higgins may not be seeking a lucrative deal, but his teammates are certainly advocating for it. Besides Burrow, veteran wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase has demanded the Bengals to “pay” the young wide receiver well.
