Tee Higgins may have played his final game for the Cincinnati Bengals on Saturday. Higgins’ contract runs out after the 2024 season and if the Bengals don’t qualify for the playoffs then fans need to get used to seeing the 25-year-old on a different team next season. Quarterback Joe Burrow wants his team to extend Higgins’ contract as soon as possible.
Tee and Ja’Marr Chase formed a formidable pair since the Clemson graduate entered the league in 2020. In the 2024/25 season, the pair combined to put up 236 receptions, 2600+ receiving yards, and 27 receiving touchdowns (most by any duo in the league).
It doesn’t make sense to break the two athletes up when they are entering their prime, and Burrow is well aware of it. After securing the Bengals’ 9th win of the season by defeating the Steelers 19-17, Burrow urged his team to give Tee Higgins a new deal.

The Pro Bowler earlier in the week uttered that he wants Higgins to remain with the Bengals and that he would do whatever in his power to keep the former second-round pick in Cincinnati. Higgins almost left the Bengals last year until they put a franchise tag on him and eventually agreed to a one-year deal.
Did Tee Higgins pick up an injury in the Steelers fixture?
Higgins featured prominently for the Bengals in the first three quarters in week 18 against the Steelers. However, out of nowhere at the start of the fourth quarter, the Bengals announced that he picked up an ankle injury and did not rejoin the game.

Before leaving, Higgins caught four passes for 53 yards. He was listed in the injury report since week 16 but for an issue with his knee. Earlier in the season, he missed two games due to a hamstring injury as well.
The Bengals did their part by winning their final game, improving their tally to 9-8 for the season. They only require both the Denver Broncos and the Miami Dolphins to lose their final games against the Kansas City Chiefs and the New York Jets.
