Micah Parsons never shies away from making a statement, and he created ample buzz after revealing his MVP candidate for 2024. The Dallas Cowboys pass rusher has been impressed by Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow.

Parsons experienced firsthand what a healthy Joe Burrow is capable of when the Cowboys hosted the Bengals in week 14. The 28-year-old threw three touchdowns and took home a win.

In the following three games, the Bengals defeated the Tennessee Titans, the Cleveland Browns, and the Denver Broncos. Burrow threw for 200+ passing yards and 3 touchdowns in each of those games. In fact, he has achieved the feat in eight consecutive games—a record previously held by Tom Brady with six.

While talking about the best player of the season on his podcast, Parsons didn’t hesitate to single out Burrow, which reached the ears of the Pro Bowler.

I’ve got a lot of respect for Micah [Parsons], and I’ve seen the things that he said about me. That makes you feel good. I put a lot of work into this to go out to play well every Sunday… When you see comments like that, it’s a good feeling. It’s not why you do it, but in a season like this, those things make you feel good, so I appreciate those.

Joe Burrow has a great chance of leading the Bengals into the playoffs

The Bengals faced a tough Broncos team in week 17 that had the same objective of qualifying for the wild card round. Kansas City Chiefs, Baltimore Ravens, Los Angeles Chargers, and Buffalo Bills cemented their place in the playoffs with two slots up for grabs. The win against the Broncos guaranteed the Bengals one last chance on the final day against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Burrow is the main reason for keeping the Cincinnati franchise in the hunt for silverware. After the Broncos game, he leads the NFL in completions (423), passing yards (4,641), passing touchdowns (42), and passing yards per game (290.1). He will enter the Steelers game with a 108.9 passer rating, the same as when he won the NFL Comeback Player of the Year award and reached the Super Bowl.

Every tier-one quarterback needs equally capable players around him to keep the offense going. Wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase has been phenomenal. After 16 games, Chase leads the NFL in receptions (117), receiving yards (1612), and touchdowns (16).

The Bengals need to beat the Steelers on the final day to keep it safe. Elsewhere, they need the Broncos and the Dolphins to lose their games to get in.
