Amid the jubilation of the victory and a personal high, one would expect Joe Burrow to be cheerful. The Cincinnati Bengals quarterback sported a look suggesting otherwise.
Burrow was seen visibly upset, with a look of frustration marring his face. Throughout the game, Burrow appeared as if he was on the losing end of the 41-24 scoreline. He confirmed the assumption when he was questioned about it during a post-game press conference.
The 27-year-old Iowan explained that the team underperformed in the third quarter. He added that his sour face could be attributed to “just a combination of things that I felt like we didn’t do good enough” throughout the afternoon. In a transcript via the team, Burrow also stated that he wants to take the bad from the game and improve upon it.
I’m not just going to ignore the bad and dwell on the great that we did today. I don’t think that’s a recipe for improvement… And I feel like we didn’t put ourselves in great positions in times of that game to finish off the right way. We ended up doing it. The defense came up big, but I think we could have done better.
Joe Burrow was quoted as saying
The Bengals are 4-5 as the season stands midway through. They are ranked third in the AFC North behind the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens. The Steelers and the Ravens boast six wins, with the former taking a game advantage over the Ravens. Burrow added that his uncheerfulness also stems from the fact they aren’t anywhere near the mark they would have set ahead of the season.
Yeah. I think just how the season has gone, knowing what’s ahead of us, knowing what we’re going to have to do to get back into this. One win isn’t going to make or break our season. So, I’m going to strive for perfection every — every day and every game. So, until that happens, what’s there to be happy about?

Joe Burrow isn’t happy with the result despite the win. The gravity of their situation is sinking in. They are still two wins away from a winning record.

According to ESPN, Burrow made franchise history by becoming the first player to record multiple games with five or more passing touchdowns in a single season. After such an impressive feat, Burrow walked into the locker room without a cheery look. In a video shared by the team, Burrow is seen sharing a rather spicy message to his teammates.
We’re traveling on Wednesday, today’s Sunday. Get your f—ing bodies right, get your minds right. It’s a big one on Thursday.

The Bengals are heading to Maryland this week to play the Baltimore Ravens. If they can beat the Ravens, the Bengals (4-5) can start fighting for the AFC North division title. In their previous outing, the Bengals lost to the Ravens in overtime.
