The Cincinnati Bengals did their part by winning their game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Joe Burrow and his teammates did not win convincingly but got the result they needed if they had to have any chance of making it to the postseason.
However, their fate lay in the hands of two teams, the Denver Broncos and the Miami Dolphins. Moreso, it was the Broncos who had everything in their hands. If they won, they would eliminate both the Dolphins and the Bengals from contention.
To make matters worse for the Bengals, most of the starters for the Kansas City Chiefs were in casuals. That made the job easier as Bo Nix had a great game leading his Denver Broncos to a dominating shutout win. The immediate repercussion was that the win meant they were going to hang on to 7th seed in the AFC.
That also meant even if the Miami Dolphins lost their last regular season game, the Cincinnati Bengals were not going to make it to the playoffs. Joe Burrow and his teammates finished 8th after winning five consecutive games.
Those consecutive wins can give a glimpse on how the team fared throughout their season. On one hand, Burrow and his Bengals turned it up against mediocre teams but lost close games to playoff contenders.

The only exceptions were their previous game against the Broncos, but the stakes were higher for them, so their win-or-end their season situation probably spurred them to a win. The rest of the games of the season show the team did not do a decent enough job to take advantage of Joe Burrow’s heroics.
Fans tear into Bengals for wasting Joe Burrow’s stellar season
Football fans observed everything all season long. They saw the Cincinnati Bengals defense struggle all season. They also saw that the Bengals offensive line wasn’t deep enough. It also came to their attention that the team struggled with their run game early on. All of these factors played their roles in ensuring the team had a mediocre season.
Joe Burrow did his part, and so did his offensive teammates. Fans knowing this took to social media to call out the franchise and their top brass. Check out examples of those comments below.

Fans want to see the best players and best teams in the playoffs. The Cincinnati Bengals were not a good enough team to be in the postseason, but Joe Burrow was. That should hit them home as they need to fix their roster in the upcoming offseason.
