“We’re all going to be dead soon!” Joe Mazzulla SHUTS DOWN talk of pressure aimed at the defending champions
Joe Mazzulla aims to lead the defending champions, the Boston Celtics, into the new season without thinking of pressure.
Head coach Joe Mazzulla not under pressure as the new season approaches
Joe Mazzulla might just be the calmest person in the Boston area as he once again dispelled the notion that his team is under pressure. He made his feelings known while he spoke to the media ahead of the new season.
Coach Joe Mazzulla addressed it in a style that fans have gotten accustomed to, applying metaphors. He has been known to deliver messages that stand out, like his off-season remark, when he talked about his team having a target on their back or his animal kingdom analysis.

"Zero. No Pressure. We're all gonna be dead soon & it really doesn't matter… you're either gonna win or you're not." pic.twitter.com/DHNFSeEeLB
Last season was a great one for the C’s as they finished with a 64-18 record and dominated the playoffs with a 16-3 run to capture the NBA title. With the core of their championship roster returning, they are widely regarded as the favorites to win the title again this season.
But first, they must start the new season with a W in their column and it doesn’t get any easier. They launch the new season with a banger against the New York Knicks who are ready to kick them off their perch and ruin their banner-lifting night.
Celtics begin title defense against revamped Knicks in 2024-25 season opener
Although head coach Joe Mazzulla has insisted there’s no pressure, the Boston Celtics‘ first game in their quest for consecutive NBA championships begins with a tough game against the New York Knicks. The Celtics had claimed the title last season after they defeated the Dallas Mavericks in five games.

And well-positioned to ruin their night are the Knicks, who are coming off a 50-win season. The Knicks made major offseason moves, all to team up with star player Jalen Brunson, who had a stellar season, as he finished fifth in MVP voting.
Unfortunately, both teams will be dealing with injuries as they start the season. The Knicks will be without centers Precious Achiuwa and Mitchell Robinson, while the Celtics’ Kristaps Porzingis is recovering from leg surgery and is expected to miss the first two months of the season.
