Khabib Nurmagomedov is not in the habit of making headlines for the weirder reasons. Not like – say longtime UFC rival Conor McGregor. Yet, “The Eagle” never landed last week when Frontier Airlines deplaned him. Nurmagomedov did end up making the headlines and rival “Notorious” notoriously found his cue to stretch it. Now, UFC commentator Joe Rogan pitches in on the viral incident.
Nurmagomedov confirmed Sunday he was escorted off a Frontier Airlines flight after video of the incident went viral. The crew turfed Khabib Nurmagomedov from the emergency aisle seat per FAA U.S. departure requirements, on grounds of a language barrier. Joe Rogan felt baffled that someone of his stature could face such a thing. He even quipped on his rivalry with Conor McGregor being a prime penchant here.

The duo have had an intense rivalry since their UFC 229 scrap. It is a peculiarity given that Khabib Nurmagomedov is one of the few Dagestani fighters fluent in English. Conor McGregor indeed stretched out the joke and even followed the airlines on socials.
That’s a particular type of foul only McGregor can do when it comes to Team Khabib and their pitfalls. It was also on an issue where even longtime rival Michael Chandler has even voiced his disgust on Frontier Airlines. Even the Council on American-Islamic Relations (@CAIRNational) protested the lines of ethnic profiling. Unsurprisingly enough, even Khabib’s former boss had stuff to air on it.

UFC CEO Dana White has often said managing the fight business is no easy task. What makes it tougher is the welfare or extracurricular antic of roster fighters. White probably didn’t consider that Khabib Nurmagomedov would be the one making headlines still. But it’s an issue he has his full support on.
The UFC CEO recently frag-bombed Frontier Airlines for grounding “The Eagle” in what he considers a very stupid move. He also said he’d teach the Dagestani fighter chartering a plane with the money he has, especially for a flight from Vegas to San Francisco.
What the f—k is he doing on Frontier? That’s how dumb they are at Frontier Airlines, …If there’s anybody you want in that position, it’s Khabib Nurmagomedov. … Khabib shouldn’t even know what the f*ck Frontier Airlines is, just like most people don’t.

White lashed out at Frontier over their decision to remove Nurmagomedov from an emergency exit row given his background. This comes despite the fact that Frontier was enforcing federal law.
White’s biggest takeaway from the situation is disbelief that someone like Nurmagomedov even chose Frontier, while trashing the company. For his part, the former champion later wrote on social media that the attendant who first approached him “was very rude from the very beginning.” Only time will tell if it leads to any legal consequences.
