Joe Rogan says Jake Paul may still be hoping to beat Canelo Alvarez based on size disparity, despite Saudi GEA four-fight plan.

Canelo Alvarez has signed a big-money, four-fight deal with Riyadh Season Boxing. This puts an end to all talk of a matchup with Jake Paul. However, there’s no denying that non-purists (and Joe Rogan and the likes) are still keen on this matchup. It would provide a unique perspective on the skill ceiling of “legit boxer” Problem Child.

Riyadh Season megamind Turki Alalshikh is no fan of the crossover circus. Hence. after a whole seven days of back-and-forth, he and his Ring Magazine revival scrubbed rumors of a matchup of Paul vs. Alvarez. Paul vs. Mike Tyson headlined MVP’s Netflix-theme fight. Before that, he outworked bare-knuckle boxer Mike Perry, leading Joe Rogan to make a case where he could actually match up to Canelo Alvarez.

So what was going to happen was Terrence, uh, was Canelo apparently had made a deal with Jake…Paul – to fight Jake Paul…Yes [ridiculous] Yeah, but fun. I’d watch it….It would take a few rounds…First of all, Jake is a lot bigger. Jake’s a lot bigger…Well, I don’t think Jake is getting anywhere lower than 205 pounds. I think Canelo, when he got to 175, when he was, uh, fighting light heavyweight and you know, he still fluctuates between 68 and 75.

The current super middleweight champion at 168 pounds, Alvarez is a different beast than the usual crossover boxing. However, problematic Paul has hydrated along the 200-pound scale as a lifelong cruiserweight. He most-oft catches flak of ‘roiding up’ due to his overbearing size. His special ruleset pro bout vs. Tyson at Dallas Cowboys’ AT&T was also at heavyweight.

This is one area Joe Rogan thinks Jake Paul can excel in – size. Despite a current pound-for-pound money fight vs. Terence Crawford, Paul and his MVP promotion have kept the diss alive. So, it’s a never-say-never kind of situation with Canelo. The Mexican was ready for the very ‘real’ deal to fight him once. He has also said that he’d do it if the money was right. After his 4-fight deal, Alvarez might just get back to it.

Can Jake Paul actually squeeze in a match-up against Canelo Alvarez someday, much like “Bud”?

Make no mistake – Crawford vs. Alvarez is ‘the’ pay-per-view money fight! But Crawford is not boxing’s only infallible solution. Israil Madrimov easily took Crawford’s lesser shots, lighting him on fire and bouncing his noggin. Crawford doesn’t tee off hard shots at 154 and definitely not at 168. Without a surplus of power, he won’t take the tune-up and is now opting for a better money fight and PPV spectacle against Alvarez for his three belts.

However, it’s a business fight despite how much Saudi GEA would like to amp up Alvarez’s four-fight deal with the extended Riyadh Season. “Bud” is a big name but has had his challenges and would definitely have them against boxing’s hardest chin. He also caps off a measly 75,000 to 100,000 buys as evident from his last few runs. Jake Paul versus him, too, would be a business fight; maybe even bigger from a business aspect. The Ohio boxer already had a deal going with Canelo that he negated.

Alvarez, 62-2-2 and boasting 39 KOs at the moment, does not accept fights and do exhibitions easily. However, there is room for Jake Paul to squeeze in; the Mexican did say to TMZ Sports that he’s open to fighting him for the right incentive. But that will have to wait. Alalshikh wants Canelo Alvarez to challenge the Brit-dust-up from Chris Eubank Jr vs. Conor Benn. Before that remains William Scull and Crawford.
