Joe Rogan has been deeply involved in the fight game for years, building close relationships with many of the UFC’s top fighters. As the host of his popular podcast, he frequently invites fighters on to discuss their careers and never hesitates to hype them up. However, recently, Rogan expressed concerns about former UFC champion Kamaru Usman.
Rogan recently invited comedian Andrew Schulz to his podcast where they talked about a variety of topics. While discussing Paddle, Schulz talked about playing it with Usman. After watching the video, Rogan was quick to point out Usman’s knees which were already injured.
Doesn’t Kamaru has really fucked up knees. Don’t ruin his knees bro. His knees are so f**** up.

Usman is widely regarded as one of the most accomplished fighters in UFC history, boasting multiple title defenses. After capturing the welterweight championship in 2019, he successfully defended it against elite competition like Jorge Masvidal and Gilbert Burns. His heated rivalry with the outspoken and controversial Colby Covington stands as one of the most intense feuds in modern MMA.
Having competed in the UFC for a decade, Usman remains an active fighter. However, years of intense training and battles have taken a toll on his body, particularly his knees. Despite these challenges, he has never used them as an excuse, continuing to push forward with unwavering determination.
Kamaru Usman opens up about his knees
This isn’t the first time Joe Rogan has talked about Kamaru Usman’s knees. In the past, the veteran commentator has mentioned it on his podcast. According to Rogan, both the fighter’s knees are damaged, and he can’t run anymore. ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ also has trouble walking on concrete due to the constant pain.

As a fighter who heavily relies on his wrestling, it’s very alarming to know that Usman isn’t comfortable. However, as it turns out the knee problem is not something that he is suffering for a short time. In an interview, the former welterweight champion shared that he has struggled with his knees for years.
My knee pain has been bad for 10 years, I’ve had multiple meniscus surgeries and this is just from wrestling. I was so hard on my body wrestling because I just wanted to be the champion, I wanted to get there. I was willing to sacrifice whatever it took to get there, but my knee pain has been bad since I crossed over to MMA. It hasn’t stopped me, I’m still whipping dude’s a**s.

Usman has often mentioned having ‘no cartilage’ in his knees, meaning he was essentially dealing with bone-on-bone friction. This has led to chronic pain and mobility issues, which have affected his day-to-day life. In 2023, he underwent knee surgery to address lingering damage, hoping to prolong his career despite ongoing physical limitations.
Is Kamaru Usman still the boogeyman of UFC welterweight division?
Even after suffering from damaged knees, Kamaru Usman has established himself as a legend of the sport. He has dominated the welterweight division for years, but is currently on a three fight losing streak. It all started with his back-to-back losses against Leon Edwards where he lost his welterweight title.

His last outing was against Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 294 where he lost via unanimous decision. However, he stepped up on short notice and was able to give a tough competition to the ‘Borz.’ Despite the loss, many fans and experts were impressed by the veteran.
Since then, Usman has maintained his distance from the octagon but is eager to make his comeback soon. According to the welterweight fighter, he is still the boogeyman of the division and is currently on sabbatical. It would be interesting to see if he can come back and prove that he still had capacity to hang with the young generation.
