Gervonta Davis vs. Lamont Roach fought each other last night with the WBA lightweight title on the line. The fight ended in a majority draw, but was filled with controversial moments. Davis was able to defend his belt, but it was Roach who caught the attention of Joe Rogan.
During the ninth round of the fight, Davis took a knee and the fight was halted. However, it didn’t count as a knockdown. Other than that, the overall fight was competitive with both fighters finding success. However, Roach’s performance was definitely impressive, and he was able to impress Rogan who later shared his thoughts.
Watching the replay of the outstanding title fight last night between (Gervonta Davis) and (Lamont Roach). I had never seen Lamont fight before, but I’m a big fan now. Fight was a draw, but it was an amazing contest, and I really hope they run it back.

After the fight, Roach believed that he had done enough to win and even called out Davis for a rematch. The champion, on the other hand, was booed by the crowd and had to face an array of criticism from fans and experts. According to ‘Tank’, the grease in his hair spread to his eyes, which had a burning sensation. This was why he took the knee.
As a result, his hairdresser also had to face thousands of negative comments on her social media platform. Big names from boxing such as Terence Crawford, Ryan Garcia, and others have sided with Roach and raised concerns with the boxing commission. Nevertheless, it would be interesting to see if fans and Joe Rogan get to see the rematch between Davis and Roach.
Joe Rogan’s stance on boxing being limited
Boxing is undoubtedly one of the oldest and most dangerous sports in the world. While comparing it to something like UFC and MMA in general, boxing does have a bigger fan base around the world. In boxing, the athletes rely on their precision striking, footwork, and head movements to outclass their opponents.

In contrast, MMA fighters can use any kind of discipline like striking, BJJ, Kickboxing, wrestling, etc. It has some rules, but the main objective is to knock out or submit their opponent. Joe Rogan has followed the sport for a long time, but he doesn’t think boxing is better than MMA.
Boxing is a limited form of fighting. It’s kind of a silly agreement. Say like,’ We hate each other, we are gonna fight but we’re gonna only use our hands.’ And there are so many aspects of boxing that are really ineffective they don’t work.
Joe Rogan in an old interview
Over the years, fans have often observed many MMA fighters trying their luck in boxing. UFC veterans such as Nate Diaz, Francis Ngannou, and others have participated in boxing bouts to earn money. However, it’s very hard for boxers to transition to MMA. With boxing giving more money, it’s hard to see that happening anytime soon.
