Jiri Prochazka has had a bizarre rivalry with current UFC light heavyweight champ Alex Pereira. With two hard-hitting KO losses, Prochazka claimed that the rival used shamanic boosts and voodoo for his unnatural stone-hand power. The matter went quite viral when they met the second time around. Now, after UFC 311, UFC commentator and podcaster Joe Rogan instigated the topic once more.
Earlier this month at UFC 311 PPV, Jiri Prochazka swiped the floor with a third-round stoppage of Jamahal Hill. At the back of title losses, both had different approaches to buffering Pereira’s ungodly strength. Ahead of the UFC 303 PPV headliner, “BJP” claimed Alex Pereira channeled spirits and shamanic boosts from his Pataxó tribe. Now, he weighed in on it again on JRE.
After Prochazka knocked out Jamahal Hill, the American fighter had a more classy turn. He even went to socials to laud the hard-learned lessons. Now, with a little introspection, the Czech fighter did the same. Whilst on Joe Rogan’s podcast, the UFC icon and legit “Samurai” admitted he was too keen on slamming Alex Pereira than his own fight.
“Poatan” snagged Hill’s vacated UFC 205-pound gold at UFC 295. However, the stoppage was controversial, given the world had not yet seen 2024 version of Poatan. Even peers Jon Jones and Israel Adesanya supported the purports of shamanic boosts. Hence, Prochazka found ample reasons to suspect voodoo. Now he showed more signs of maturity and improvement, something that Rogan noticed.
Joe Rogan admits Jiri Prochazka has been a step up from his last fight
UFC 311 saw the return of Jiri Prochazka. The former champion was back to his old self as he scored a third-round knockout with the Intuit Dome crowd clearly on his side. Prochazka (31-5-1 MMA, 5-2 UFC) had early success sending out feelers and exchanging in medium outputs. But then, he beat Hill to the punch with a hard left early on. Ever since, it was the mark of quite the striking clinic from his side.
UFC’s only “Samurai” had floated around that he’d improve or let it go after back-to-back title slumps. UFC 311 proved that he did improve in his weird ‘Prochazka’ ways. Joe Rogan was initially dismissive of Prochazka’s hands-down, no-shell explosive striking. However, he admitted that the fighter did bring on the improvements.
Prochazka now boasts 30 of his 31 career victories by stoppage; including all 5 in UFC. He is one of eight fighters in UFC competition to score a knockout with a spinning back elbow. “BJP” accomplished the feat at UFC on ESPN 23. His headfirst open and explosive striking game plan often gets dumbed down.
But the former champ has had his success with it; now, he has improved on it even more. Prochazka was hoping that his evolution was enough to earn another crack at the undisputed light heavyweight title. For now though, he will keep a close eye on the UFC 313 PPV event headliner.
