YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul has consistently sought out exciting, high-profile matchups in the boxing community. Recently, the ‘Problem Child’ was on the verge of a potential fight against Mexican boxing star Canelo Alvarez. In light of this, popular podcaster Joe Rogan shared some intriguing insights about that prospective matchup.
The recent episode of Rogan’s podcast attracted considerable attention within the combat sports community. During the episode, Rogan and American director Peter Berg explored various intriguing topics. One notable discussion centered around Paul’s near fight with Alvarez. While many were uncertain about the likelihood of that matchup, Rogan confirmed that the agreement was indeed genuine.
Well this is what happened. They had this agreement and Jake Paul actually told me about the agreement when I met him at the inauguration. We were talking about it and I was like, ‘Holy sh*t’. It hadn’t been announced yet, I was like, ‘that’s crazy’.

Interestingly, both Paul and Canelo have been critical of each other. It was actually the ‘Problem Child’ who initiated the feud with the Mexican boxing superstar. However, as Paul was gaining significant attention in the boxing community, Alvarez appeared to agree to a fight against the American boxer. This is when boxing promoter and chairman of Saudi GEA, Turki Alalshikh, intervened in the situation.
Alalshikh has consistently criticized influencers who transition into professional boxing. As a result, the Saudi delegate signed Canelo to a four-fight deal with Riyadh Season. Following this, the prospect of a matchup between Alvarez and Paul has seemingly been dismissed by the boxing community. Currently, Canelo’s first fight under this contract is set for May against William Scull, and his second fight is scheduled to be against Terence Crawford.
What did Joe Rogan think about Jake Paul’s victory over Mike Tyson?
Since Jake Paul transitioned to professional boxing, he has faced intense scrutiny within the community. One major reason for this is his tendency to fight older, worn-out fighters in the combat sports scene. However, undeterred by the criticism, the ‘Problem Child’ fought against retired boxing legend Mike Tyson, who is 58 years old, in his most recent match.

The AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, hosted an eight-round fight between Paul and Tyson. The ‘Problem Child’ made his debut in the heavyweight category and comfortably defeated the boxing legend by unanimous decision. While many notable figures in the boxing community shared their opinions about the fight, Joe Rogan did not express much of his thoughts on the outcome.
I’m happy they made money. I’ll leave it at that. That’s what I think. I think it looked like sparring to me. It didn’t look like anybody was trying to hurt anybody, really. Which is good. Whatever. Draw your own conclusions, I have no facts.

Amid that, Rogan has frequently expressed his opinions about Paul. The well-known podcaster has praised the Problem Child’s progress as a boxer on multiple occasions. However, following the cancellation of his fight against Canelo Alvarez, it will be intriguing to see who Paul will face next in the boxing community.
