Crawford is one of the few boxers who has held a undisputed world title in two different weight categories. The American boxer began his professional career in the lightweight division (135 lbs). However, after a brief period at that weight, Crawford moved up to the light welterweight division, becoming the unified champion after defeating Julius Indongo.

Crawford, brimming with confidence, has established himself as the undisputed champion in the welterweight division (147 lbs). In his most recent fight, which took place in August 2024, he moved up to a higher weight class and defeated Israil Madrimov. This victory earned him the titles of WBA junior middleweight champion and interim WBO junior middleweight champion (154 lbs).

Now, as discussions swirl around his potential fight against Canelo Alvarez, it appears that the match would occur in Canelo’s super middleweight division (168 lbs). Consequently, Joe Rogan highlighted the significant difference in weight categories between the two boxers.

It has been over a year since discussions about a potential matchup between these two fighters began in the boxing community. Although Crawford has always shown interest in fighting Alvarez, the Mexican boxer has had a different perspective. At one point, Canelo even seemed to take a jab at the American boxer’s resume.

Look, I respect Terence Crawford. He’s very talented, but he’s just won one big fight. If you see his record, he just beat one good fighter. Other than that, he hasn’t beat other good fighters like Spence.
