Joe Rogan recently posted a video from his Instagram which highlighted the problem of cargo containers getting looted in Log Angeles, and how it became a major problem for LA’s police force, and for consumers all around the world.

The video showed discarded packages from REI, Amazon, and other companies. Union Pacific is greatly concerned about this issue, and they are trying their best to deal with it. They are planning on increasing the number of agents on patrol and using advanced technologies such as trespassing alarms, and drones

A clip recorded by the CBSLA camera showed a person snatching the package, and running away with it. Union Pacific officer tries their best to deal with the perpetrators, but the sheer amount of them makes it impossible for them to do so.

Many witnesses state that the thieves wait around the tracks with large bolt cutters, and they board the train when it slows down, they take their time to take away the valuable stuff, and the rest is left to fall off from the train.

Authorities say the charges decided for these thieves are way too lenient, and it has been reduced to “misdemeanor”. They often get away with it with just 24 hours of jail time, or by paying a minimal fine. They are not afraid of the police, and they even say to their face that there are no consequences for their actions.

Union Pacific hires people like Luis Rosas to salvage something useful from these abandoned tracks, and he is stunned by the actions of these thieves. Talking to Associated Press, he said, “They don’t even run off anymore. They do it right in front of us. At first I was shocked. I was amazed by it.”

The video posted by Rogan also showed Covid testing kits that are required by people and are in great shortage are just lying away on the track completely untouched.
