After cementing his place as the undisputed heavyweight champion for the second time in his stellar career, Oleksandr Usyk has firmly established himself as the best boxer of his generation. The Ukrainian powerhouse made a statement by knocking out Daniel Dubois in brutal fashion at a packed Wembley Stadium in front of 90,000 roaring fans.
With a flawless 24-0 record and victories over future Hall of Famers like Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua, Usyk has proven time and again that he’s built differently. While some may argue he’s not quite in the league of legends like Muhammad Ali or George Foreman, there’s no denying that he’s etched his name into boxing history.
Interestingly, UFC commentator Joe Rogan seems to agree. On episode #168 of The JRE MMA Show with light heavyweight contender Khalil Rountree Jr., Rogan delved into what makes Usyk so unique, highlighting both his skills and relentless pace inside the ring.
He’s so good. I mean, think about what that guy has done. He beat AJ twice, he beat Tyson Fury twice, and now Dubois twice. I think he’s one of the best heavyweights of all time…AJ was saying that when he fought him, it was the most exhausted he has ever been because he is always moving.

Rogan went on to describe how Usyk’s style breaks his opponents mentally before it breaks them physically. It’s not just about power or speed but also the pressure and constant motion that wear fighters down.
There’s no rest with him. There’s like constant twitching. You are constantly thinking when is this coming? There’s no silent agreements, there’s no relaxation, there’s no rounds off. Everything is… he’s putting it on you and moving constantly. Like I always say, he’s like a giant Lomachenko.

For those who’ve followed Usyk’s journey, his dominance comes as no surprise. Before ruling the heavyweight division, he was already the undisputed champion at cruiserweight and boasted over 300 wins in a decorated amateur career.
At 38, Oleksandr Usyk isn’t slowing down. He made it evident in the interview after his second win over Dubois and insisted that he was just getting started. With history already on his side, the burning question now is: who will Usyk face next?

For the unversed, Oleksandr Usyk has officially been ordered to face Joseph Parker next in a mandatory defense of his WBO heavyweight title. The WBO moved quickly to enforce the bout, giving both camps 30 days to reach an agreement. Otherwise, it will go to a purse bid. Moreover, the Ukrainian will have to face the New Zealander if he wants to remain undisputed.

While trilogy fights with Fury and Joshua had been speculated, Usyk must now either face Parker or vacate the WBO belt. Veteran promoter Frank Warren explained the title situation in clear words.
The WBO have actually said that the winner of the fight on Saturday, which was Usyk — that’s his mandatory. That’s the next mandatory due out of the four belts, and it has to take place by the end of the year. Unless he vacates the belt. If he decides to vacate it, then [Parker] will have to fight the #1.

Parker has been in excellent form lately, with big wins over Deontay Wilder, Zhilei Zhang, and Martin Bakole. He’s bounced back from his defeat to Joe Joyce and has never fought Usyk, adding intrigue to the potential matchup, one that Parker and his team are pushing hard for.
Usyk, meanwhile, is coming off two decision victories over Fury, the first in May 2024 to unify all four heavyweight belts and a rematch seven months later, with only three titles on the line. He scored a knockdown in the first fight and won the second more convincingly, with all three judges scoring it eight rounds to four.
Despite the outcomes, the Englishman has continued to dispute the decisions and remains a possible future opponent, especially after Usyk named him first when asked who could be next after his win against Dubois.
On the other hand, some fans and even Turki Alalshikh are eyeing fresh blood. Case in point is rising prospect Moses Itauma. The 20-year-old Slovakian-born Brit has won 10 of 12 fights by knockout, all within two rounds, and could become one of the youngest heavyweight champions in history if he continues his rise.
I want to see Usyk against Itauma. This is the fight. 🤷🏻♂️🥊

The aftermath of Usyk vs. Dubois 2 also took an unexpected turn when Jake Paul entered the picture. The YouTuber-turned-boxer had been angling for a bout with Joshua, reportedly agreeing to terms via a conversation with Alalshikh.
But after stepping into the ring, Paul went face-to-face with Usyk for a staredown and later proposed an MMA fight between them. Apart from this, there were rumblings of a bout with former UFC light heavyweight champion, Alex Pereira. It will be interesting to see what the Ukrainian chooses to do next.
