He also feels grateful to all the criticisms and comments that analysts have pulled off for him, especially when it is Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley.

Joel Embiid finds motivation from critics

The previous seasons for Joel Embiid haven’t been as good as this one. And he knows whom to give the credit. It is definitely ‘the process’ he found from criticisms. Despite facing some brutal comments and criticisms from Shaquille O’Neal, Embiid has taken them very positively. He said on ‘the athletic’, “When all those guys, Shaq, Charles [Barkley], they just kept talking about how dominant I could be, I understood. They saw the talent. They saw what I could really do. But I wasn’t using it. I wasn’t doing it. So when they were criticizing me, I just saw it as a way to kinda open my eyes and actually be better.”

He added, “Instead of using it as criticism, I just took it to want to be better,” added Embiid. “So when I look back, when that was going on, I have nothing but love for Shaq. Because whatever they were saying, it just opened my eyes to actually realize that I can be that guy.” Joel Embiid now stands next to Nikola Jokic for the MVP race due to his injury.

The Philadelphia 76ers are eyeing the top spot now. Despite receiving some underwhelming comments from Charles Barkley as well, team superstar Joel Embiid feels positive for getting top learn a lot. These comments and critics makes the athlete perform better and prove that he is not what is hold. Joel Embiid can possible manage to win a title this year. Hopefully, hi maiden title makes him learn a lot.
