Joel Embiid called out by Al Horford's sister after fan's comment

Joel Embiid has yet to play a single minute this season, but that has not stopped him from being a point of contention across the league. After nearly a month of NBA hoops, the Philadelphia 76ers are yet to bring their franchise star out to the floor.

However, a recent interaction between Al Horford’s sister and a fan caused Embiid to get caught in the crossfire. Al Horford’s sister, Anna Horford, is a regular member of the NBA community on social media platform X. Many fans know of her, and some of her past comments have often been the cause of controversy.

In a recent interaction on X, Anna posted a video of her nephew Ean Horford shooting on the Celtics court. A Joel Embiid fan account quoted her post trying to make a joke about her nephew’s foot being inside the three-point line.

Anna, however, did not take well to the comments about her nephew and Al’s son. She immediately called out the account called ‘Joel Embiid Truther,’ with a snarky response, which sent a stray attack towards Embiid himself.

Anna called out the fan for supporting Embiid, especially given his playoff record against Al. She insinuated that Al is the ‘father’ of Embiid, given his track record while guarding the Sixers’ big man. Throughout his career, Horford has been dominant against Embiid, with a 19-8 combined regular season and playoff record.

Al has often been termed the Embiid stopper for this reason, as the former league MVP has somehow consistently struggled against Horford and the Celtics. After making his return from injury, Joel Embiid will hopefully look to even out his record against the Celtics and their big man.

When is Joel Embiid returning from injury?

Joel Embiid has had a roller coaster start to the season. Even though the Sixers star has yet to play a single minute on the court, his off-court issues have played a major role in keeping him away from the game. Embiid came into the season struggling to rehabilitate a knee injury he suffered late last season.

Following a slew of controversy over his injury progress and a suspension handed by the NBA, Embiid is finally close to making a return. Embiid has already begun to make progress on the court during Sixers practice sessions, engaging in contact training.

However, his ongoing suspension following an altercation with a reporter has kept him from making his debut. As per the 76ers, Embiid is set to make his debut on Tuesday night for the opening round of the NBA Cup in-season tournament against the New York Knicks.
