Joel Embiid key for Doc Rivers at Philadelphia 76ers
After another disappointing season, the Philadelphia 76ers have been left with no option rather than changing the front office majorly. Doc Rivers has been brought in as the Head Coach, in the hopes of getting the best out of the duo Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons. Everyone is aware about the change Rivers got at the Los Angeles Clippers, making them one of the favourites to win the previous championship.
An injury to Simmons in the Bubble in Orlando meant the responsibility fell heavily on Embiid’s shoulders, which the Celtics made full use off. Clean swept the 76ers 4-0 in the first round of the playoffs. As far as Rivers is concerned, he has won the championship with Boston Celtics in 2008. But with another jinx from Clippers, he parted ways from the franchise.
Doc Rivers to maximise Joel Embiid’s potential
Many analysts have talked about the great potential that the 76ers have. If the right moves are made, and players start living up to their potential, they can be a serious threat. It is up to Doc Rivers to help fulfil this potential.
NBA Analyst Tim Legler believes that the key to getting Philly into the Finals is Joel Embiid. He said that Rivers must convince him to be a strong part of his project.
“If I’m Doc Rivers, I’m posing that to him. Like, ‘Listen, I’m going to do everything I can to help you schematically. We’re going to do things differently here. You’re going to like what we’re going to do.
The inclusion of Doc Rovers in the 76ers side has the potential of changing the face of the franchise, if he works just fine. No wonder there will be a lot of pressure on the duo of the 76ers to get them to do well. But with Rivers in the picture now, many players can have a bigger role than before. But let’s see where the 76ers will be placed in this season which starts probably from December 22.
