The Philadelphia 76ers recently played against the Chicago Bulls on Sunday night in the NBA. The 76ers are dealing with a poor start to the 2024-25 NBA season along with injuries to their stars. Regarding this, 76ers star Joel Embiid made a much-awaited return to his side after missing weeks due to a ‘knee injury.’ As Emiid returned, his side came out victorious against the Bulls by 108-100.
Due to his knee and a league suspension, Embiid missed the first nine games of the season. Before being shut off and missing the last two and a half weeks of activity due to knee swelling and personal reasons, he made a comeback to play in four games. This included one at Memphis on November 20th, where he scored 35 points. After his recent game, Embiid opened up on his injury.
Embiid continued to put in a lot of effort behind the scenes, and it paid off. Against the Bulls, the seven-time All-Star finished with 31 points (13-28 FG), 12 rebounds, four assists, and two blocks. The 76ers improved their season record to 7-15 as a result of their impressive performance.
In this game against the Bulls, Paul George, Tyrese Maxey, and Embiid all played together with the 76ers for the first time. All three missed time this season because of injuries. Now, there is hope that they will remain comparatively healthy going forward. All eyes will be on the 76ers staff to handle their stars’ fitness and minutes going forward into the season.
Joel Embiid ‘still’ trying to find the snitch in the locker room
Joel Embiid was annoyed by more than just knee problems this season. Tyrese Maxey criticized Embiid for his constant tardiness. This was during a November team meeting of the Philadelphia 76ers. He didn’t mind his teammate’s remarks, but he did object to the information from that meeting being made public.
The 76ers team meeting leaker was referred to as a “real piece of s***” by Embiid, who was incensed that the information was released to the press. He must undoubtedly act more professionally going ahead, but it was not ideal that so many facts from that meeting were made public. Not only that, NBA insider Jack Fischer also reported that Embiid was ‘still trying’ to find the snitch.
REPORT: The 76ers held a team meeting after falling to 2-11 last night, where Tyrese Maxey called out Joel Embiid for being late "to all team activities and everything", citing how it impacts the locker room, other players, and coaches.
