Joel Matip walks off injured for Liverpool against West Bromwich Albion and is set to be absent against Newcastle United

Paul Joyce of The Times reported that both Joel Matip and Naby Keita will be missing against Newcastle United for Liverpool. Liverpool travel to St. James Park on Wednesday evening and will look to get three points in order to avoid any other drops. They were held to a draw by Sam Allardyce’s West Bromwich Albion and will look to avoid any further slips.
Injury prone duo……are injured again
It is no surprise that Joel Matip and Naby Keita are injured again as they are the most injury prone players in Liverpool. Naby Keita has played a combined 50 matches over three seasons and has missed most matches being injured. After a stellar display against Crystal Palace, he has pulled up with a muscular injury. His case is that of a tragedy as his manager is a staunch admirer of him but also frustrated by his injuries.
The frustration is further exemplified as Naby Keita wears the iconic No.8 jersey for Liverpool, formerly owned by their greatest midfielder Steven Gerrard. The former has what it takes to be a great midfielder, but sadly is plagued with a weak body. The same goes for Joel Matip as he just can’t seem to be free of injuries. Whenever he plays he proves that he is on par with Virgil van Dijk in terms of reliability and is also a goal threat.
Sadly both players are going to be the sidelines yet again for a period of time and it is looking like Jurgen Klopp cannot have a strong bench this season.
