UFC 292 had some grueling fights, and one of them was Chris Weidman vs. Brad Tavares. However, the UFC 292 prelim bout did not result in a successful comeback for Weidman, as Tavares won the fight on the scorecard. Conor McGregor, who’s a huge combat sports fan, watched the PPV and tweeted his insights on various fights.
Previously, in 2021, Chris Weidman broke his foot in a middleweight bout against Uriah Hall at UFC 261. A similar fate befell the Irishman in the same year. Conor faced an identical injury against Dustin Poirier during his trilogy fight. Conor was cheering on the middleweight fighter’s comeback as he plans to do the same for his career. The Irish star commented on the fight on live recordings by providing slight improvisations to our usual UFC commentators. Conor hilariously advised commentator Joe Rogan about Weidman’s lethal leg injury and its chances to affect his present fight. Conor said,” Joe, the bar inside the leg cannot snap.”
After the UFC 264 card, McGregor underwent surgery to insert a titanium rod from his knee to the shin. He hilariously pointed it out in his tweet about the unbreakable nature of a steel-implanted shin. Further, Conor has also boasted previously about his titanium shin and its use in a combat matchup.
McGregor will fight Michael Chandler in his comeback fight. However, Conor should pray for a different outcome than Chris Weidman. Weidman could not get his offense going and struggled against Tavares. Weidman is a former middleweight champion but at his age, he should consider retirement. After today’s loss, the future looks uncertain for the middleweight fighter.
Conor McGregor agrees to fight Michael Chandler on December 16, 2023
Conor McGregor was in the spotlight at the Anthony Joshua vs Robert Helenius boxing fight. “The Notorious” was successful in creating a bunch of headlines at that event. Conor also cleared all the doubts surrounding his comeback fight date and opponent.
In a ring-side interview, McGregor confirmed his matchup against Michael Chandler. It will take place in December. Both fighters could be a part of the UFC 296 card. The date 16th December is said to be the speculated date of the matchup. Regardless, UFC president Dana White has not confirmed the bout.
This fight can potentially be one of the biggest UFC fights because of Conor’s return. Conor has the status of attracting a crowd. And, with a power puncher like Michael Chandler as his matchup, this fight can be a huge success for the UFC.
